Sirai Chaalai music vs. Lagaan music

any comments? lagaan songs were fantastic for the mood of the film and the bgm also was very apt, simple and subtle. any commentss. i have not see Sirai Chaalai (Kaalapaani) Do you think IR made a mistake of doing the same pallavi charanam stuff for a theme which requires a very different musical type approach?

  Compared to SiraiChaalai, lagaan is better in screenplay. As for as music is concerned, Siraichallai is far better than Lagaan. This is my honest opinion.

  Maybe I'd have bought the Siraichalai soundtrack if IR had done some experiments with Andaman folk rhythms and Western Orchestral movements.
  Lagaan was no great shakes either...wish ARR had done a "Thiruda Thiruda" type recycle for Lagaan instead.

  What kind of topic lah.IR is always far better than other music director.Sirai Chalai is a class movie.There is no way to come a better movie than this.Music also same.There is no one who can score great music just like Illaiyaraja.He is the born genius.Raja is a musical history.

  Don't even compare the Music of Sirai Chalai with Lagaan. Lagaan is basically a Formula type movie(commercial). The main success behind this movie was the Screenply which involves some cricketing also(the real reason for the success). Music for this film was another stereotypic formula from ARR
  Nothing much to say abnout BGM also.
  
  
  
  Whereas Kaalapani (Sirai Chalai) was aimed at a globally matured audience (awards)had pictured the real patroitism of our freedom fighters. This film has really proved itself in terms of Quality (technical excellance like BGM,Cinematography, Art direction, Editing etc..). And IR's job was really appreciable both in terms of fitting to the sequence as well as the orchestration. IR was critically acclaimed for his job in this movie. And moreover IR always uses original Orchestration for the BGMs not like the artificial fusion music of ARR.
  
  And moreover,It seems most of ARR's supporters don't have musical sense. That is why they are coming out with some junk threads where we IR fans are forced to write out our comments to make them realise about their blind statements.
