Let us DEFINE music

we talked a lot and felt very knowlegable already in music....lots of HCIRFS lots of ARFs

this thread LETS TAKE IT AS CHALLENGE and define music in simple terms....that wud reflect our understanding..........

Well after listening to IR i define music as
'A LANGUAGE TO EXPRESS/CONVEY A FEELING/EMOTION/MESSAGE ETC.'

Lets see whose definition will be eye opener for others....

  Music is Channelised Sounds following a particular Rythm......IMHO......
  
  for a lay man(more than 70%), it is different sounds,fresh and refreshing sounds that always attract........

  music is the thing that can bind everyone, u dont need to understand the words the person or anything abt the creator of the music but u can easily understand his/her feeling from the music he/she creates.

  Thru this topic, you can know from the statements made by forumers the depth to which music has struck a person' consciousness.
  
  My understanding of music's complexity is only growing and growing with every other song, and in the process I realized that for me music is the most powerful positive force, well, after one's family ;--)
  
  I can listen to any music and find joy and mystery in it. Yet, music rooted from way past, thousands of years of longing, of hope, of struggle, of oneness with the beauty of nature, of innocence, spirituality, cultural pride just completely overpowers me.
  
  And, all this cherished feelings, I find reflected in mostly in the many many many Indian film songs, particularly those from Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali. I also conclude that these composers are ageless "souls" or heavenly messengers sharing their very powerful feelings, intellegince and experiences and help society find peace, joy and togetherness in something that bonds them from way back thousands of years. Music, hence, for me is nothing to do with contemporariness or tremd, but of the best of values, sentiments and feelings that are timeless.
