Ilayaraja gave fewer songs to Vani Jayaram as compared to other singers. Yet his songs for VJ were special in his own way.

A challenging singer who broke across Mumbai by vasanth desai and later in tamil by "Shankar Ganesh!", enriched by MSV, KVM and only utilised and dethroned by IR.
Now both are in 'Ayyo Paavam' state. There is no body to win fate!

Keerthi, Vani Jayaram was introduced by MSV in "Theerka Sumangkali" by MSV. SG and KVM too utilized her very well.

Tamil to Telugu dubbed or remake movies, IR had given chance to VJ for the songs sung by SJ in Tamil.

She should have been better utilized.

I got it, I think it should be 'Maan kaNdaen, Maan kaNdaen, Maaneethaan naan kaNdaen, Naan peNNaik kaaNeen' - KJY, VJ Duet from Rajarishi.

But tell me, IR is the MD for that movie ? It sure had excellent songs, Looking @ Sivaji, I guessed it may be MSV ;-) (NOM for IR :-)

GR, there is a VJ version for `kaNdEn engum poomagaL', though I won't call it `pathos':-) It has some climax kind of interludes and background -that's all. (feeling like a ghost song - though I haven't seen the film; a parallel could be the accident version of `pAda vA' in nAn pAdum pAdal. In the case of NPP, both are by SJ)

Anyday I'll prefer the mild & lovely SJ version of KVG.

Is the kuttichAthAn song `chellakkuzhandhaikaLE'?

in the page you had given, there is a mention about a song "Ninanti Sooryadu" from Seetakoka chiluka.

this song is very popular in TFM also. Seetakoka Chiluka is remake version of "Alaikal Oivathillai". Karthik and Aruna acted in that. Sarathbabu did Thiyagarajan's charactor.

Ninanti Sooryadu song is nothing but "Aayiram Thaamarai Mottukale".

when SJ excelled that song in Tamil, Why VJ was used in telugu? Some more songs are also sung by VJ in the same movie.

There is one more similar song. "Kurisenu chiru navune". It was by VJ and she did very well. In tamil SJ did very well. That song is "Thoongkatha Vizikal Rendu".

There are a number of mallu duets for PS & VJ - all semi-classical songs. I think there's one in bhaktha hanuman for a sheela-Jayamalini dance. Also, semi-classical. This is possibly a dubbed movie.

MSV and VJ are a remarkable pair. Vijayabhaskar and VJ are a remarkable pair. KVM and VJ are a remarkable pair. But IR and VJ, I have a hard time agreeing. MSV, VB and KVM brought the best out of VJ. Their songs remain evergreen classics.

Dear friends...after going thru all ur comments...I wud like to add few more...

When one talks about combination....there r two things....1) no. of songs (total) and 2) % of hit songs (of the total songs)....

I think in this regard for 2) it shd go to IR/VJ
and for 1) it might be either MSV/Vj or KVM/VJ...since KVM has also done lot of telugu movies featuring award winning sankarabaranam and much more....

another fact...The song "en ullam azhagaana vellithirai"...is from the movie "cinema paithiyam" which is the remake of "Guddi"...Ironically same song in hindi..."bole re"...was the first cini song for VJ which also got her nation award I think...or Jeya badhuri got the Award...I dont remember...
