I always wondered why Karthik Raja or Yuvan Shankar never made use of Chithra's voice considering the fact that some of Chithra's great rendition in Tamizh were under IR's composition.
Btw, why is that we dont hear much of Chithra these days? Is it because most Music Directors prefer new voices with each film. I dont find her singing even with the regulars like Deva, ARR, IR. Hope there is no clash or whatever.

first of all, chitra has to learn to say some thanks in public for IR, for all the mentoring and opportunities. what is "dasettan" and rahman done that IR has not done for his protege?! maybe i am wrong, but i find this woman with a rleatively good voice not with any great singing abilities just plain lucky beauese of "dasettan'" influence. i've seen sycophants, but this singer is one other end of the spectrum.

Sariyane KaSe,
Do please read some of the interviews of Chithra available in old threads right in this forum. You may find yourself mistaken.
To Ravi,
I am not definitely sure but I can guess as to Karthik Raja's problem. His first song for Manikam was supposed to be sung by Chithra. But unfortunately, she didn't make it to the recording studio on time so they had someone else sing as the 'auspicious time' was running out. I guess he holds some negative feelings; even though she has sung for him in a film.
Regarding YSR, I have no idea.
Regarding singing less...I can only guess and some may be incorrect. For sure, she has a child now. So that automatically means less songs for a while. But we didn't hear much of her long time before too. I must admit that music directors are using newer voices. I guess they feel it attracts people more...a different voice for each song and such. Definitely the number of songs she sings in tamil has reduced. But then, please look at the Tamil music industry at the moment. It's worse of than the Tamil film industry and that's saying something. Everyone may make a big deal out of new releases but sales don't reflect the hype, be it A.R.Rahman/IR/YSR/HarrisJeyaraj etc. She does sing more often in telugu films. Manisharma uses her often and so does Keeravani.
At present, whole music industry is in a bad situation. From what I can tell you, a lot of people that I talk with rarely anticipate new tamil music. What comes out these days is mostly 'junk'(I am not trying to be harsh) and not everyone has the patience for them. I know for a fact that a lot of music lovers would rather listen to older songs that they enjoy than the 'noise' that they hear more and more these days.

i must say i do MISS her voice these days... i really think is one of our great voices of the current times (just like the susila of the 60/70s) her telugu / malayalam / tamil even hindi numbers are great. if the music industry doesn't use her talent than it is OUR and the Music directors' losses - i would strongly say.

Let me tell you the pre-requesties for the female singer in YSR,KR,IR family.
1)The name should begin in Sadhana.
2)The name should end in Sargam.
3)The name has no middle name.
I think chitra doesnt have any of those. :))

sariyana KaSe
Please read this interview: http://www.screenindia.com/feb27/music1.htm
Read the reply when she was asked who her favorite music director is. She has repeatedly said (as aruvi mentioned) that all her film career, she owed it three people - KJY, IR and SPB. And to say that she is plain lucky is just immature and irresponsible.
She has sung many an unbelievable song in malayalam, telugu, tamil etc. It is only without any preconceived notions that you will be able to appreciate this melodious voice of this humble, down-to-earth lady, KSC.

you are mostly right. but, read your own story about ksc not arriving on time for karthik raja and that tells a lot. that is my "fanatic" opinion. so disregard it ;--)

Yes!, Aruvi's point might be right but certainly not ur's.
I know u always oppose IR family which ofcourse is ur own opinion but I feel I s'd oppose ur opinion if not for everything.

Thanks Aruvi for your opinions. I truly agree to them. Kum_laden and Kaumudi, you had a good point!!Morever 'Sariyana Kase' (I wonder if its the same person who posted in another thread as 'Your mentor, little girl'.
As I had mentioned in that thread, Chithra had always stuck to her praises and greatefulness for IR. There is not one interview without the mention of IR (One can really check out on that!). Infact even during the ARR wave, she still sung her praises for IR, KJY and others. I feel she's a person who doesnt not do 'Muga sthuthi'. So 'Sariyana KaSe', please check out facts.

Kum_laden,
Alternatively the name can start with Shreya and end with Koshal(I think the spelling is correct).
Then also IR family will use.

Despite the attacks on Sadhana's pronunciation in our threads(I was a major stone-thrower!) her voice does sound really sweet. Hindi songs are very good. See, its like maths wizards flopping in English exams and vice versa. And IR has always had strong preference for soothing voices(Jency, Uma Ramanan etc). Maybe they feel, KSC got her chances. If that is so, really sad :(

Hi guys,
Even though it appears like she sings rarely these days, the rare songs comes as gems.
This year biggest hit "Ovvoru pokkalumae" from "Autograp" was sung by Chitra. And also in recent telugu "Swara abishekam", she has sung two extraordinary melodies that too with Mano and SPB, in malayalam she sung in "Akale" which was also a hit. She is doing her job fine though the numbers are quite less, she is the numero uno when comes to singing. Even last year she gave some good melodies in "Manasin akkarae", "Koi mil gaya", "Saamy" etc., Infact she won best singer award for "koi mil gaya" song in MTV music awards. Her career is going quite smoothly, it is our ignorance, we don't give ears to kind of songs that she offers

Yuvan Shankar Raja, gave SJ, an opportunity to sing in his music, in the Sarathkumar film "Rishi".
I hope I am not wrong about the film name.
The song is
"Vaa Vaa Poove Vaa Un Vaasam Paarkka Vendum Vaa..."
SJ sings for "Meena", I suppose, in that song and Hariharan has sung for Sarathkumar.
Reasonably good song.
Also, it is being heard that, SJ recorded a duet with SPB for the film "Nanda" a Suriya-starrer and in the music of YSR.
But, somehow, that song, did not find a place in the film.
Did it not find a place in the cassette too ?
And any interesting news behind this song ?
Also, one another question is, has SJ sung in Karthik Raja's Music ?
I guess, the answer is no.

235, very true. Though the no. of songs she sings might be limited, all of them seem to be hits like "Idhuthaanaa", "Ovvoru pookkalumae..." etc. But its definitely sad that we dont hear her voice that often these days.

Eventhough, Raja happens to be the MD for "Pandiyan", it seems that the hit song
"Paandiyanin Raajiyathil Vuya laala..." has been composed by Karthik Raja, I suppose.
Because, at the time of release of this film, there were big talks going around saying that Karthick Raja has composed this song in that film.
This song has been sung by Mano and KSC and "Pandiyan" has been a Mano-Chitra affair altogether.
Few songs, coming to my memory are
Ulagathukkaga Pirandhavan Naane - Mano
Paandiyanaa Kokka Kokkaa - Mano
Paandiyanin Raajiyathil - Mano and KSC
Anbae Nee Enna Andha Kannano Mannano - Mano & KSC
Adi Jimbaa Jeyipadhindha Paandiyane - Mano & KSC
Is my assumption, that "Paandiyanin Raajiyathil" has been composed by Karthick Raaja, true ?
