S P Balasubramaniam WAVE ends??

SPB wave ends?

Singing offers to SPB has come down drastically in the past few years. Does this mean that his era in the film industry has ended?

SPB’s voice is one of the most recognized voices in South Indian film industry. He had also done lot of playback singing for Salman Khan. But, for a while he has simply vanished from the recording rooms.

What happened?

"I don’t think it is a wave. If it is, then I will be back again soon. I have been singing for the past 39 years. Once upon a time I was a new singer too. But, even now I sing the songs that suit my voice and style. The day my singing deteriorates, I will stop singing. If I feel that I had spoilt a song, I would myself call a press conference and accept that my voice had spoilt it. Then I’ll announce my retirement too," he said.

  Sad but seems to be true. I read somewhere that young tamil heroes prefer trendy voice of Karthik/ Tippu or even HH/SM/Udit even though the last mentioned 3 are middle aged.The reason they give is itseems SPB's voice might invoke images of older, yesteryear heroes like kamal,rajini,shivakumar etc.

  Sakkari Inikindra Sakkari, was superb!, SPB is still as youthful as ever, GOD is on his side :), so his voice may not deteriorate at all :)
  
  The song from the movie star, 'Rasiga Rasiga', still haunts me !!, esp the when SPB sings, 'Andha Mumtajin ....', his voice is very heavy, it is even louder than the drums interludes!
  
  There was song, that SPB sang for Karthick (Vetri??) Under the composition of HJ!, I hope the singers like HH, SM, Udit, Karthick, Tipuu. ....and the rest of them, should listen to it, and think twice about their singing!!
