I got this CD a couple of weeks back. Its a complete musical score for a docu-feature film on India. There is a mention that this film is totally made out of thousands of photographs. The musical score is really great. This album has a pretty catchy theme music which appears in all the 17 tracks in one form or the other. I am very impressed about all tracks in general, the last one in particular.
Has anyone tried this ?

I listened to india24hours and the music was just great!! I was transported to India and I could relish the theme in the entire stretch of the cd.
Pieces like "Aspiration", "Illusions" haunt your mind and in particular, the piece "Entranced",moved me as it had more pathos in it, than anything. There seems to be more philosophical touch to the entire composition, and the maestro never hesitates to add his touch of pathos and melancholy, as is his wont.India 24 hours is sure to fix your mind. My India is in my mind, more!!!

Its true that this album has a unique touch throughout (especially the track titled "a mortal coil" where Maestro himself has provided the voice). It takes the listeners to all parts of the country and gives a real "Bharat Darshan".
By and large, it is the same impact that I get from Maestro's "How to name it" album.

Re-iterates the fact that this album is another jewel in the crown of Ilayaraja . The music is a greate ensemble of melody and heart warming
overtures and finishes . The 'theme' is a master piece . Another vindication of the depth of musical prowess in its entireity.
If you are insomniac. Just listen to This.

This album should not be discussed....but experienced, to say the least.
Hats off Raja !!!!

I heard this superb album too. In my opinion Ilaiyaraja should stop scoring music for junk Tamil movies and concentrate on non-filmy albums. By the way guys, there are two new non-filmy albums by Raja
Ramana Maalai - songs written and composed by Raja. I bought this In India. A good album which proves that Ilaiyaraja is not just a great composer but a great lyricist too.
Vedic Chanting. This is a reasonably good album. Maybe I am unable to appreciate this completely.
Devathai is not available in NJ, USA. Where are you guys posting from ?

Look at Devadhai. Illayaraja in his hep mood/
S Janaki after a long and long gap delivers a
great song. The violins in this song portray
the confidence Raja has over the musical
form. Karthik Raja sings Enge En Kadali
with jest. I liked the Raja's Duet with Kavitha
Krishnamurthy. It is a nice album with good
music.

One of the pieces in this CD is the same tune as 'Masaru Ponne Varuga' from Thevar Magan. I think the name of the piece on the album is either Illusion or Inspiration.

Have you guys seen the interview with IR in the
Hindu? He is scoring music for a Malayalam movie
using instrumentalists from Hungary!!
He has done so to avoid computer music and the use of conventional instruments.
Hats off to IR.
If IR goes on like this, what will be the plight of the music directors ( so called) like Deva, Sirpi, Adithyan, Vidya Sagar, Shiva(Love Today) and the likes...

I am willing to talk with any Illayaraja fan who has listened to songs from his first 100 films on Radio Sri Lanka in the years 1976 to 1985. I happened to have some of his rare songs that were played only on SL Oliparappu kootu sthapanam when that adamant AIR would refuse to play songs from movies that were never released or songs with somewhat bad lyrics. I mean it is alright, but some treasure could not be shared then. Anyone?
Please do write to me. Over the years, we may make some effort to create a library for Tamil film music in its entirety from the golden age that ended not long ago!

Hello, I wish to add that Ilaiyaraja's music in the latest Malayalam movie "Guru" is simply excellent.
He has collaborated with a Hungarian orchestra to produce some real scintillating stuff. All the songs
have an excellent orchestration (Raja's forte), and each has its own special charm. The background
music in the movie too is out of the world ! I'm happy to say that the audio cassettes of the movie are
selling like hot cakes out here in India !

Everyone here, particularly Mr. V Subramaniam has made me smile from ear to ear! Finally, Raja has woken up. I mean, now I really appreciate the contribution of ARR. He has contributed to the waking up and hot caking of Mr. Supreme Raja!
Glad to know Raja is selling 'like' hot cakes. In the last few years, I had a strong and disturbing feeling, with great doses of adrenalin flowing at the thought of that feeling, that Illayaraja was finally selling cakes. I am not sure if they were hot or cold, but I felt the Supreme was stepping down to sell cakes.
Anyway, folks, may the Raja live forever.

Hi,
I too am a fanatic of MAESTRO ILAIYARAAJA.
I am a greater fan of his voice. I have twelve audio cassettes of his voice alone. All the cassettes are company casettes ( echo, AVM, Lahari, etc... ).
If any one needs more info on the songs, Please contact me at tnshibu@writeme.com . Please do not reply to this mail.
If any one can give me more info on songs sung by the MEASTRO himself, Please do so.
Thanks

No doubt IR is great. No one needs to tell about the album. I dont think this album requires publicity as much as it was given to VM. This peice from IR will talk for itself.
