  Satish: To be honest, I liked the tune, hence I was motivated to write the lyrics. I too personally did not like the lyrics but posted it for Tom's request.

  Bhaskar u need not have to apologise and personally i dont feel that the lyrics should be deleted. We are talking abt TFM and soniya soniya is also a part of it. Why should we limit ourselves to only good songs ...indha madhiri songsum partha dhan namakku nalla pattoda arumai theriyum illaiya?:)) aedho enakku thondriyavai:)

  pidichchathu pidikkaathathu vERE vishayam. It is subjective. But vulgarity is more objective. There cannot be two opinions on that. Lyrics of Soniyaa are indeed vulgar. I wasn't ready to beleive that it was Vaali (after so many 'pU' related words). Thank God, somebody clarified that it was indeed by Virasamuthu.
  
  I had already mentioned in the thread, 'Music Review of New Movies', about this song, that the lyrics are borgering on vulgarity.
  
  Moreover, please don't get confused by names like Tom Cownan (or whatever). I am sure it must be some Ramasamy, Kuppusamy or Palani who had just given that psuedo sounding name just for fun.

  I cannot forget this incident: when thanga magan was released I used to sing the rathiriyil poothirukkum song. I was only a small kid that time and i used to sing the song loudly.oru naal thalaiyile nangunnu oru kuttu partha appa'ennada

  so what vaali and vairamuthu do for the sake of money we do when someone is interested to know the lyrics. Thats why i say u need not have to apologise:)

  Thanks to the "lyrics" you posted, I have decided there is no merit in me buying the Ratchagan CD for my family.
  It will join the ranks of several songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's which did not make their way into my collection due to the type of factors Ramki has outlined, despite other excellent features like orchestration.
  
  I have two options as an "informed" person when faced with such output from the movie industry:
  1. start a "mass" movement to improve the overall quality of Indian cinema;
  2. in my own way be selective in what I listen to and spend my $ on, and be a smart consumer.
  Since the former is personally neither possible nor is a personal goal in life for me, I usually do the latter.
  
  Again, such decisions and criteria are personal, in my opinion. Shall we lighten up and move on to other fun threads, please? Thank you.

  pOdhuvaaga, naam paattinai kEtkumbOdhu, virasama, illaya enru namakku therindhuvidum. AdhatkumEl, adhanai, as you said, intha DF il post seyya vEndumaa enbadhudhaan yennudaiya varuththaam! Nothing else.
  As everyone has observed, I really do not know why Vairamuthu has gone down so badly in recent times, especially while scoring music for ARR!!

  CP i disagree with ur last remark.This is the first time VMuthu has written such cheap lyrics in ARRs music. His lyrics under rajas music had were much more vulgar(egs manasu mayangum mouna geetham(salangai oli),andha nilavae dhan naan kaiyile pidichen(mudhal mariyadhai),ponnoruthi kai mele katti vachae poo maalae(ninaivellam nithya))
  
  He has been giving decent lyrics for ARR(though not very meaningful)

  manasu mayangum mouna geetham was in sippikkuL muthu.
  
  VM got a national award for mudhal mariyadhai (his first).
  
  Guys : the songs listed here are not very vulgar. There have been songs which are much more vulgar. I don't want to list them but an example : (nAn kaNda kaNda AmbiLaiya kattikida mAttEn - sivappu sooriyan - MSV vAli) & nilA kAyidhu. Lyrics are vulgar but I think the picturisation is what really takes the blame. Bhagyaraj started the trend of the heroine seducing the 'innocent' hero - there have been countless songs of this type.
  
  It is not just movies alone : Kumudam has been vulgar for quite some time and now AV tops it in its 'iLamai compound by mikkiappan' which is probably the most vulgar article in popular magazines.

  PG, I agree with you that those two songs are not all that vulgar, but they are definitely the lowest by ARR so far. There are most certainly more vulgar lyrics in TFM before these, but that's no excuse. ARR has, so far, maintained certain quality when it comes to vulgarity in lyrics, I don't see any reason why he should lose it now. He has been successful without it.
  
  Ramki, I don't see what's vulgar in those three songs you have mentioned. (I disagree with Aravind, vulgarity sometimes *can* be subjective. Atleast there is something called borderline vulgarity.) But please, you don't have to explain. I will just pay more attention when I listen to them next time. ( Vaazhge um thondu! :-) )
