funky,
Two things:
1. I do not understand what you are trying to say: people running away because of the BGM?
2. Why be a spoilsport and tell us the end of a new film that we haven't seen yet?

Friends is a fantastic way ahead of it's time. Normal people may not be able to appreciate the movie but the climax is awesome(By the way Funky, why did you give it away?) It is a edge of the seat thriller with an outstanding musical score

I talked to couple of people in India yesterday, it seems like "Friends" songs are really good in the movie unlike on the CD. Is it true, fan? Though I like couple of songs on the CD, it's a big letdown for me. After listened to songs from "Bharathy", I was expecting more from IR.

It could possibly be a good movie for a couple of reasons:
a) An all-time-big-hit through out Kerala being remade into Tamizh, by the same director (I didn't see though)
b) A couple of my colleagues (one of whom is related to a movie distributor) rated it (MY version) very high

a) Can write about the songs in the film (I heard there are 4 songs) - are they in WCM or ICM?
b) How is the BGM?

Here is a interesting review on "Friends" music.
reviewer has the same realism we all have, when he writes "Let us hope that he is able to again occupy the centre stage in Kollywood and give us some tunes to escape the mediocrity of the existing composers."

Bhagavathar thanks for the article
Good to hear that people want IR and his melodies back, finally the tide is turning if favour of the old mastero. I get a feeling that IR has better rapport with Malayalam Directors than our tamil directors,I think they are very focused in getting what they want and IR also responds equally well to them. I also read somewhere that for Friends the producers were in favour of other MDs but Dir.Siddik insist that its only IR he wants or he is not interested in the project.
And his faith and trust in IR has not gone waste. IR has also done a good job going by the public response to the cassette sales. Hope the film also does very well so we may get more from Malayalam directors and also from our very own IR making a great comeback.
Had too much of mediocrity music these days.

Mr. IR FAN,
Let we confine this forum for appreciating IR or news about IR. Whether it is IR column or ARR column, I am always seeing one bashing the other. This is unwarranted and you know both IR and ARR can coexist.
IR is a great genius! That does not mean that ARR has not done any thing. He is also doing good in his own way.
If we start taking sides, then whatever IR gives we will start appreciating, which is not good for music.
Cooldown!

Well Said Prasad, its high time people show some courtsey and respect of others work also.
Just for starting some one pointed discussions is meaningless. We have wonderful forum members who can give excellend inputs on so many topics.
So its high time we stop this bashing.
Hope people like IRFAN understands MDs may come and go but what lives forever is their work and based on that we can judge something

Guys,
In the Pandavas web site, there is a section on IR. In their effort to praise IR, they have in fact committed blasphemy by saying:
"his Hindi hit Sadma which was a remake of his Tamil and Telugu hit composed by ANAND-MILIND".
What kind of Crap is this?
For a movie touted as India's answer to Hollywood(!!!), the use of English in the website is pathetic, with countless typo and grammatical errors. I wish they (Pentamedia) employed better copy-writers (and graphic and UI designers, for its user-non-friendly scrolls and the worst-quality photographs of IR & other musicians, arguably scanned from Ananda Vikatan)
Go to: http://www.pentafour.com/pandavas/flash/mainflash.htm and select 'music' to find out.

Reporter, this guy/gal who wrote the article in that link is a confused nitwit and a biased @#@$@%#!! (sorry).
There is no mention of Ilaiyaraj's contribution...though I consider myself an ex-IR fan...there is no way I can overlook his mammoth contribution to Indian film music which will be recognised only after his demise as we Indians always recognise our geniuses when they are no longer there...He sounds like the part of a Mumbai Media that is trying to underplay and kill the giant southern influence in Indian films.

Truth is always bitter and so are the true comments about the crap music in Friends. We pray Almighty to save Dir. Siddiq &co for a better luck next time, as he has paid already for IR obsession. Seruppadi needs it back and will get it if he is going to blindly promote. Any composer be it the Greatest Maestro MSV, the father of film light music or IR, his follower who seconded melodies with electronic instrumentation initiated during his period or ARR who is totally computerised - Let them compose anything. We should have our ears and mind open and post facts true to our conscience. Flattery from IR obsessed will boost his ego and ultimately push him to ashrams.(I believe he has asked for a site from Kanchi mutt). Let us call a spade, a spade!

Fiflo, yaro and naan yaar,
Are you in the world of reality or in a dream sequece BGM scored by IR. Let us pull the Harp melody which disturbs the dream sequence and try to think and appreciate sensibly. Include this proverb also, for directors who still jalra IR in a similar sycopancy: 'Aalai illa oorukku, iluppai poo sakkarai'. It is definite that IR needs rest. Let KR and YSR take it up with their productions.
Friends is as per kumudam50-50, ie .,so so.
