Happened to see this film's advt in Vijay TV last evening at about 7:50 pm. Unfortunately, they had used the X-Files theme while showing the name of the movie. I really hope Karthikraja has nothing to do with that. Also showed 2 songs with Prasanna (the main hero of 5 star) dancing...songs didnt register instantly but didnt sound assembly-line either.

Excellent melodies from KR. I think, given a chance, he always proves. But non of his movies were hit. I wish this movie, with low profile hero and heroine will make a big win.

1.Ravoda Ravaaga -Tippu and Others
on the likes Nilave Nilave from Album ...Good dapanguthu song ....7.5/10
2.Thevaillae -Tippu
A Hip Hop song like Krishna Krishna ..the first interludes are similar to Amul Baby SOng from vanhinaathen ....The second interlude sound svery different ,with a hindustan humming and beats ...Nothing great in this song ...7.5/10
3.Kaadhal Manilae -KR
Just when u feel that it is a just above average album KR comes with an very good song ..He sound s like IR very much ... Very Nice song and has IR stamp all over ..The first interllude reminds of some Illayraaja song's interludes ...If the movie is a hit ,this song will become like a "Yenge Sellum Pathai " ...9/10
4.Kangalum Kangalum -Vijay Praksh ,Bhava
Vijay Prakash is the same guy who sang "Poo vaasaam ' song from Anbe SIvam ....I doubt this ,because the voice is different here !!!EVerything is greta in this song except Bhava should have been replaced by CHitra and Vijay praksh by Balram /Madhu Balakrishnan ..Bhava is good ,but if it had been chitra/Sujatha /Shreya it would hve bene great !!Defintely pick of the movie ..The lyric is also well written ..The interludes has a very good humming interlude ...9/10
5.Oluthiae Oliuthae -KR ,Shreya Ghoshal
Surprising that KR has sung two songs ...The songs slowly grows ......and it is very good ...Starts with a dhandiyaa beat song ....Then KR starts his melody ......This is the pick rather than the previous song ......9.5/10...KR seems to have favoured humming interludes for this film ....I think SPB should have sung or UnniKrishnan or Harish Ragahvendra...
Overall i can see this is good but not as album or Ullasaam or grahan ...

MumbaiRamki, very apt review. KR sung (or atleast tried) Oliyuthae*2 bit in Oli 96.8. But KR always favours giving a song to Bhava. fortunately YSR doesn't do this mistake. Why KR attempted to sing? As you said, good singers helps to boost the song lot more, but he miss this support again in this album.

The best number IMO is 'Kaathal Mannilae', sung by KR. Indeed it is very reminiscent to his father. You know how IR sings the saddest songs of the album. It is an excellent melody, in raagam Kamavardhani. The other numbers are just okay.

Last night I thought I will listen to ragasiyamai and see what it was all about.
Oliyuthe/oduthe is pretty good. The reason being that he has enjoyed creating it rather than trying to impress.
However, i think he should stop giving these behind the scenes comments. They are really immature and he is desparately in need of some training in PR skills.

I do not think it is 9immature ..it was honest, straightforward ..what is immaturish about this ????
