Dear friends,
We all know about ARR's magic in Hindi cinema. Can we talk about the albums IR has composed in Hindi? Include stuff such as actors/actresses/directors et al. We may include those which have been reused in Tamil again by IR for better understanding. Get goin' friendz!

Pradeep R,
1. Sadma-IR played very safe by repeating 'moonRaam piRai' (95%)in his first ever HFM venture!
2. Some 'Kaamaagni' or such stuff by Ashok Kumar with Alok Nath and Tina Munim
3. 'Mahaaveeraa'-A Vinod Khanna film
4.Devar's 'Jeet Hamari' (Tamil 'thaai veedu')-
5. Hindi 'MoonRu mugam'-'Jaan Jaani Janaardhan'
6. Some SA Chandrasekhar's Hindi versions 'azad desh ke gulam' ', kudrat ki kanoon', 'balidaan' etc.,('suthanthira naattin adimaigaL', 'needhikku dhandanai' and 'saatchi' respectively)
(I'm not very sure if 4 ,5 and 6 are by IR!!!)
Let me rack my brain a little more for some more!!

Friends,
Based on the success of the Kamal-Rati Agnihotri pair in 'Ek dujE kE liyE', 'ullaasap paRavaigaL' was dusted from the cans, dubbed into Hindi and released as 'dO dil deewaanE'!!!

CV,
4,5 & 6 are not by IR. You left out few more films:
1) Aur ek prem kahani (by Balu Mahendra)
2) Hey Ram
3) Lajja (BGM & 1 theme song)

C V- Jeet Hamari was by Bappi Lahiri.
Nayagan and Thalapathi were also dubbed, though Nayagan was also seperately remade as Dayavaan.
Rasiah was also dubbed in hindi, when Prabhu Deva was riding high.

In 'Sadma', the equivalent of 'Poonkaatru puthiranathu' was 'Eh zindagi', but its tune was totally different- the same tune was used by IR for 'En vaanile'-Thambikku Endha Ooru! The second interlude music is similar to Poonkkaatru Puthiranathu song.

One humble question. Did any of the film become a hit.
Even Sadma's song became popular only years its release and maily due to TV. Then too, it did not become hit as in Tamil.
Wanted to bring this obvious fact as there is a nice discussion going on.
We can also include the remixed versions of IR's songs by some other MD's which became hit atleast.

Pradeep,
Would you like everyone to actually believe that your intentions are NOBLE?
After failing in your attempts in many threads to garner support for your suggestion that every other song of IRs sounds like that of ARR, you are trying again to bash him! Well, good luck!
What next, a thread titled, "IR's Sojourn in Konkani"?

Are Yaar,
Sadma, the film was instant hit and so is sridevi. As far as music is concerned, the song "surumai akkiyO(n)mae(n)" [ KaNNae kalaimaanae] was instant hit, but not the other songs.

No kupps. Sadma is probably one of the few best Hindi movies that time but not a hit at all. I was in calcutta and we knew that it was a remake of MP. We expected it to be a hit but didn't even run for a week. Sridevi was a big hit after Himmatwala and kamal was a big hit after E doje KL. Balu mahendra thought that probably his unique story which appealed south might go well with northies. But no. Even the song by jesudas was literally not noticed for long time. Only after its play in TVs did that song come to be known as one of the best songs of KJY in Hindi. The song is not remembered as a ever green song as we do here. Yes, recently an advt. came with that song but soon went of air. That advt was probably done by those guys who ripped few more IR's songs for their ad.

my collegues in delhi(a few were bombayeewalas), when i was there, said Sadma was an instant hit and unfortunately for the director or other technicians like cameraman, they say, only sridevi was a noticed after that.

May be kupps...but see what people say hit there...Sridevi....she was a hit already. Actually the film should not allow you to see them as artists. Every one lived their character there in the film..
Kupps it have a lot of effort to cross over to North. You might say that they don't have good taste...but they will say the same thing to you...that you people glorify fat..old heros..belly jerking heroins etc...You need to work out a perfect formula which suits both these people...only few have been able to do that...Kamal did but failed afterwards...why....?

Are Yaar
You are right - sadma was not a big hit in the Hindi field. The reason that was given then was that it had a sad ending and people didn't like it but I don't belive it since Ek Duje Ke Liye also had a sad ending.
Coming to other issues:
In my Opinion,to make it big in hindi film industry you need lot of clout. I guess it is being held closely by a few families. Look at the last names of many of leading actors, directors, producers (and few actresses) and you will understand. Talent alone is not sufficient there. Though kamal became a hit, he could never make it big. With actresses ofcourse it is a different matter - HFM seemed to have supported to some extent lean, good looking south indian actresses, though. All IMHO.

to *some* extent! To a large extent - rekha, jaya pradha, hema malini, sridevi, vyjayanthimala, padhmini, waheeda rahman, mandakini,............................

Anu,
I have to make a point here..where did u find me comparing Ir with Arr for inspiration. there was only one case - The Amma song in SMK which is very similar to Arr's Kollayile song in Kaadhalan.
I do not want any personal attacks here. I may be a HCARRF, but I am a lover of good music. I have a good collection of IR's evergreen oldies. I pray, what do u mean when u say "r ur intentions noble?"
BTW friends, what were the reasons for IR to give up scoring for hindi movies altogether?

Are Man, I know that, but such titles fcor films sound as if they are chinese dubbed movie into Hindi. What I mean to say is by hearing the name itself people will feel that they can't waste time on that.
Any way thanks for the explanation./

hello,
I think , shiva (hindi) was a super hit movie. Especially the BGM score by IR was excellent. When movie was released in 1991 December, Screen Film magazine was flattering BGM by IR, saying that when u will hear the BGM , electric shock will pass on through your nerves. Even Amitabh Bachan also had the same opion. May be that's the reason he invited IR & KR to do the music for world beauty contest held at Bangalore. I am also agreeing with screen magazine's review, because the BGM was superb. Hey guys, try to watch out the movie. Of course i am agreeing the songs were not captured the music listeners. One song , Kiss me sung by Asha and Suresh was also not included in the movie. For the song , i think acoustic guitar was used.

No.

Very true. Songs + BGM were both wonderful.
But IMHO, the best BGM by IR for a HINDI movie is his work in the recent Lajja.
