First Impression.....
I can't make head or tails with the lyrics.... they've been so badly cramped within the musical score.. none of it makes sense....
I doubt very much if they are gonna make any sense at all in the future too....

thamarai has to learn a lot more about translating songs from jaambavaans like vairamuthu...she has concentrated too much on lip-synchronising...and left all rhyme and reason haywire ...it sounds like a lot of incoherent lines put together just to fit the music and the lip movements.....actually nowhere all three (i.e, rhyme meaning and lip sync) are together...she seems to be losing on the other two when she gets one right.
and to add on to this messy lyrics...the singers massacre tamil mercilessly even though they manage to pronounce "zh" as "zh" and not as "L"
sunidichuhan may be a good singer but definitely not in tamil...shaan does a better job than the others (comparativley speaking)...the only solace is the mesmericing voice of chitra...but then the lyrics are not too good...
wonder how the music is doing in the tfm market???
bad start for anu malik in tamil...
he deserves it anyway
his fault of choosing thamarai and only hindi singers to sing in tamil except for chitra...
i feel sad for santhosh sivan
hope the movie is not dubbed with hindi artists speaking in tamil....:-)

right on buddy..... since I decided to give Ashoka a couple of go's before passing my second thoughts, it just became more clearer that no matter how many times we try to sample these numbers.. THEY R NEVER GOING TO MAKE ANY IMPRESSION AT ALL.... let alone any sense..! My heart felt sympathy for SS..... he sure didn't deserve this kind of treatment from the goons!!

dear AA avargalae,
Yu have mistaken me...infact there were a lot of news that anu malik is interested in tfm industry and he had taken pains (??!??:-))) and special care in recording the tamil version of asoka, and is keenly watching as to how the music does in tamil. and in any case most of the movies are made to make some bucks only...hardly a handful do it solely for its creative purpose. i still would say it is a bad start for anu malik in tamil , even if he is not interested in tfm. ellam mudinjipogavillai endraalum, it is definitely a bad start. Atleast if the music had done well here, there would have been some attraction for more people to go and watch the movie in theatre. Santhosh sivan should have waited for someone like IR or ARR for such epic tales ...anu maliks real colours come out .
and about the oriyan background...i can clearly see the influence of oriyan music in only one aong ...."adiyae aathi"...the other songs sound like regular rahman-kind-of-music. In my opinion, that is one of the better (comparatively speaking) sounding songs in the album (in tamil)...and definitley it doesnot measure upto the hype the film has stirred.
hope this is clear
