Gopika Poornima

Who is Gopika Poornima. She seems to feature in a lot of albums - Star, Thenali and seems 2 do a lot of chorus for AR Rahman..... Any information will be appreciated.

  She was one of the finalists in the ETV talent search program (the first batch) "Paaduthaa theeyagaa" which was conducted by SPB. She lost to another good singer Usha (Usha is right now one of the most sought after singers in Telugu). But I feel Gopika's voice is better than Usha's in terms of softness of the voice.
  
  SPB recommended all the four finalists and of course, the winners of the finals Usha and Pardhasaradhi got some good chances in playback. Gopika and Mallikarjun (the guy who sang for Devisriprasad in Inithu inithu kaadhal inithu) also got some good chances in Telugu.

  Kaumudi and Sam - Thanks so much - very informative. She sang Angeli Angeli with SPB at the US concerts of AR Rahman and had a nervous disposition, but a nice voice and vocal range, however, couldn't match Chithra on that number.
