ARR has been a trend setter in the 1990s and continues to be active though not in the way his fans would have liked him to be. Sound engineering has taken a new dimension after the emergence of ARR .
Oflate,He seems to have shifted his focus towards the more rewarding west and has been rather quiet in tamil/Indian films .
IS ARR a real successor to the great IR? Will the purists accept him??
The present youth rate him very highly and his name sells more than he films for which he scores.
Why are the middleaged still reluctant to accept and enjoy his rap/pop styles? why do they still prefer the carnatic based melodies and folks of the 80's and 90's, especially of IR?

Who cares, I just buy IR CD's and no ARR even if it is distributed free I don't care to look at it. I am happy with what I like, not bothered about others tastes.

ARR's songs are good to listen in a place where you are happy...
But if really want to involve in the music.. it is better IRs music.
I buy both their CDs .. as long as songs are good.
If you guys dont listen their songs.. u r going to loose not them.

I buy all IR albums. I buy ARR albums after I have listened to the songs and know I like them.
I am 35 and I grew up with IR. It is only natural I am biased towards IR. Besides the bias, it is a fact that IR is the proven master of every genre in music.
As far as ARR being the successor to IR,even those who claim to be HCIRFs should admit that he is.
Weather, ARR at his best as good as IR at his best is still up for debate. But, ARR is definitley the next in line after MSV and IR.
As for the next in line to ARR, he is not yet on the horizon. I am tempted to say Yuvan, but Yuvan is only now starting to find his own feet.

Both IR and ARR cds are worth buying...
But only thing is after a period of time it would always be pleasant to hear IR songs...but is not worth listening to ARR songs...
IR music is forever...

Might be because IR 's Music comes from his Heart & Head its so close to human but ARR's Music comes from his computer Machine.

It is not the matter of purists. It is about ones own likes and dislikes. I used to be an IR fan for sometime after I listened to Chinna Thambi. But after sometime I didnt quite like his composition like I used to be previously. I found that his tunes started to repeat slightly at some places and moreover IR has specific instruments for each emotion. He always use the same instruments in the same pattern in most of his movies.
On the other hand, every time I listen to ARR songs, I find something new. This tempts me for the next listening and it continues.
People now will start calling me ignorant, but i don't care as there are people here as ignorant as even saying
"IR 's Music comes from his Heart & Head its so close to human but ARR's Music comes from his computer Machine."

Indrajith is a knowledgeable critic as seen by his 100s of posts in Raga of Songs thread.
Guess Me proves only one thing - only the supremely ignorant can define ignorance, no wonder he jumped in :-)

I havent seen any of Indrajith's previous posts. Being a knowledgeable critic, one won't except such comments from him.
Whoever he might be but posting comments like using "Computer Machine" to create music is stupidity.

Is it? Then you should have published a dictionary full of definitions of terms like foolishness, stupidity etc.. long back.

If want to drown in music then listen to IR's music. Greats from the west say that music flows towards him with ease. Can u imagine someone composing Symphony within 7 months,it takes years for greats to compose one.
