Top 3 artistes!

This excercise is being done just to get an idea about the best in Tamil cinema (other than music directors). Lets start a debate and if can't come to an agreement we can take a vote on this. I want to know the names of the top three artistes in these categories. He or she should have made positive contributions to Tamil cinema in the 90s (otherwise we end up with too many names and too many fights). Overall popularity (not just a financial success) should be taken into a/c.
1. Top 3 directors
2. Top 3 story writers
3. Top 3 cinematographers

Only in the 90's please!
