  Dear Friends,
  
  All the music directors right from MSV –IR-AR-DEVA-SIRPI -OTHERS have cherished the great voice of SPB. I am sure every one of us regardless of MSV fans, IR Fans, AR fans and other MD’s fans will join hands in being a SPB fan…
  
  KAMAL honoured him by taking blessings from him (Sashtanga Namskaram) in a public function.
  Kamal later said this is the best way I could think of honouring the great person..
  
  SPB is a great person with great amount of experience in TFM, let us all share our thoughts on SPB..

  I can't help mentioning 'Kadhal Rojavae' songs here. SPB is having a field day in this movie singing duets with 3 different singers (Chitra, Swarnalatha and Sujatha). The same 'thuLLal, Munagal' that we heard 20 years is still there. Hats off to SPB.

  Hello everyone!
  I am not a tamil speaker. I am from South America. I live in Guyana. We never see South Indian films here [except the ones that are dubbed in Hindi].
  We speak English here.
  But why am I writing? I am a 100% fan of SPB. I am mesmerised by his voice. I cannot really describe it. I have only heard the Hindi songs that he sung. Like those from HAHK, Maine Pyar Kiya. Which ever song I listen from SPB I am bound to like it. It not much about the lyrics or music, it is about the voice. He sings with real feeling and expression.
  
  Though I hardly know Hindi and I absolutely know nothing about Tamil or anyother South Indian songs, I still listen to his songs.
  
  I was wondering if anyone can provide me with the postal address of SPB. I would so much like to send him a letter. Or does he have an email?
  
  On South Indian Music. I absolutely love it. I have heard music from Bombay, Roja, Kaala Paani, Sapnay, Kaadalan etc. I am absolutely mesmerised by it. My favourite music director is of course ARRahman. He is the best!
  
  So if anyone has the postal addy or the email addy of SPB..Could you please oblige. This is the first site that I came across about SPB. Are there any other sites that you can suggest.

  Another fan who loves SPB's old voice more than his new voice. His old voice (pre-IR) had a zest which was I think missing in his IR period. I love his Ayiram vilavE vaa, avaL oru navarasa nAdagam etc.
  
  During the IR period, his voice mellowed and became more sophisticated - which is good but nothing to beat his old voice.

  pg: you are correct about SPB's voice change.
  Before IR period his voice transition started
  during Shankar-Ganesh period (like "unnai nAn
  pArthathu veNNilA vELail" - in this song the
  way he has done the "baba..baba..ba.bA.."
  is real nice and I don't think anyother singer
  can do that.
  
  
  Another thing I like about SPB is his adjustability,
  I mean with co-artists. He was the favorite for
  all the MDs.
  Did he get into any controversy ??

  SPB sounds very different in this song, he sings more like Hariharan singing for the song Uyirae, Uyirae, ingu yaennodu kalandhu vidu in Bombay.

  SPB can sing any song of Mano better than Mano, can sing most of the songs of MV better than him, can give quite a competition to KJY in filmy carnatic singing but he can't touch the other giant of TFM : TMS. SPB absolutely can't cut in singing in philosophical songs like 'pOnAl pogattum podA' and 'Aru manamE Aru andha ANdavan kattaLai Aru'.
  
  But of course TMS just cannot dream of singing songs like 'paduthAL purandAL uRakkamillai' & 'singAri sarakku nalla sarakku'.

  Mr. SK, i have not seen that movie but i like that song. 'Ore..veeeeenai...ore..naaaaatham...' still sounds in my ears. Oru malayala singer 'kili' ,'moli', 'vali' nnu padindiruntha periodle oru telugu singer voicele oru unarchiyode paadinathe paaratrathu goodhalnna, i don't mind enjoying that goodhal again and again.

  I think what Sk meant was that the song is not a kadhal song. The song is about the seduction of a young Sridevi by a Telugu actor (the villain of the movie). It is a 'palAna' song for the period. I think that's what SK meant by a goodhal song.

  Did you read KJY's interview recently (about 2-3 months back) in one of the weekly magazines (probably Kungumam). The interviewer asked him about his (mis)pronuonciations and KJY vehendu ezhundhu vittar ! 'Ippa yAro oruthar 'vandhi mataram vandhi mataram appadinnu pAdiyirukkarE avarai poi ketka veNdiyadhu dhanE'.

  SPB might be more happier when he was in recording of some songs like...'maane..kanni vaikkum... naanthane..' from Antha Oru Nimidam, kamal dance, spb song. Very interesting song and dance. Same movie another song 'Iniya paravai sirakai virikka thudikkirathe..' very good voice for that song by SPB. 'Valaiyosai kalakala...' from Sathya., Enna saptham intha neram from Punnagai mannan. Oru unarchiyoda paadina songs athellam. Many songs from his collection may strongly say 100% satisfaction assured!!. God bless Balu.

  I am also a fan of his old voice and songs.
  Though he changed his voice, he is still
  ever green tender singer who can mould his
  vocal cord to any thing. He is a great actor too.
  
  SPB is multi-dimensional as bones says. In
  singing he has shown variety of colors by his
  own magic voice and ingenuity. He has TONS of
  creativity.

  Type6: Malare MounamA - Just humming
  Type7: Adi Atha Athorama variya - tappanguthu(Payanangal mudi..)

  It is never ending list. No wonder he is
  ruling tamil, telugu, Hindi and kannada FM.
  
  His tricks: Just laughing naturally in between
  the songs.(includes caughing also)
  Adds humming, munangufying, thullufying etc.
  
  Modulates according to actors, though
  he denies that he is not doing that.
  
  Put the soul while singing. Ever green
