  Some of the MDs who couldnt make it big,
  but may deserve a mention.
  
  1. Narasiman (Achamillai Achamillai,
  Pasamalargal,
  veedu iruvasal)
  
  2. L vaidya nathan ( Ezhavadu manidan
  and many more art films )
  
  3. Mahesh (nammavar, kurudipunal
  Saw his telugu movie at no 2
  in telugu top 10)
  
  Some vijaya knath starrers and aabavan movies had many such Mds. Add them.

  The movie Senthoora Poovey had some nice songs - can't remember the MD though.
  
  Pakiaraj did some good songs as well, espcially the first one - which was not released. Again can't remember the movie.

  Narasimhan - Aayiram pookal malarattum (a
  song with the same lines by PS is a beautiful
  one)
  
  Bagyaraaj - Kavadi chinthu was apparently his
  first movie. He did score for Ithu namma aalu
  and Avasara Police 100 later. I find all his
  songs half-baked stuff.
  
  Devendran - He is one good guy who didn't
  click. Vedham puthithu is one of his
  best.
  
  NO Valen, ungal uthattarugil vantha MD's
  Manoj-gyan. Film Institute students-ukku

  VS Narasimhan - Pudhiyavan (*ing Murali) First film for VSN(also Murali). Unique songs but flopped. Other films - Pushpak alias Pesum padam (only BGM - no songs).
  
  Ravindran - Oru Rasigan Oru Rasigai (*ing Sathyaraj, Ambika). Great songs (Ezhisai Geethame and others). I think he is a big MD in Malayalam films.

  Dear Padmanabha Ganesh,
  You got it right.Ravindran is indeed a great name in Malu movies.Infact he was a roadside MD in his early days(like our own IR).Yesudas came across him and asked him to produce the music for his next album released on Tarangini music. Yesudas also decided to launch a new female playback voice with this album.The album "Vasantha Geethangal" was a big hit and it made Ravindran very famous.Incidentally the female singer also made it big.Her name is K.S Chitra.

  Ravindran scored music for the malayalam movie 'bharatham' - KJ got the award in 92. Great songs (mostly carnatic based) and a good,
  decent movie (so natural .. starring Mohanlal , oorvasi and nedumudi venu). I was able to enjoy it even w/o subtitles. **** rating

  Ravindran has scored a couple of other good songs. One magnificient song that comes across my mind is 'nalam paaduvEn' from 'kaNmaNiyE pEsu', a Sivakumar, Lakshmi starrer. SJ's rendering is terrifc. The same movie had another good song 'vaanam engaL ellai' by Malasyia and Chitra.
  
  rasigan oru rasigai had another good song. 'paadi azhaiththEn' by KJY.
  
  Manoj-Gyan has a lot of good ones at the rate of 2 or more per movie.
  
  maamaraththup pUveduththu & kaNmaNi nillu - Umai vizhigaL (How about raaththiri nEraththu!!)
  
  senthUrappUvE & chinnak kaNNan - senthUrappUvE
  
  semmari aadE, unnai thinam thEdum (TMS), sollikkodu - uzhavan magan

  Gyan separated from the duo, renamed himself as Gyan Varma and composed a magnificient song in 'iNaintha kaikaL'. It is a duet by SPB and Jayachandran - andhi nErath thendral kaatRu. This reminds me of two more things.
  
  1) Include this in the rare combination of singers - SPB and JC
  2) Include this as another wonderful no for JC - paavam
  
  VS Narasimhan also scored some wonderful songs. 'pUmEdaiyO' from 1000 pUkkaL malarattum shows his prowess in violins. The same move has a very slow (perhaps the slowest!!) 'kaadhal nilaa thEynthathO'.
  
  Hamsalekha gave some good numbers.
  
  paruva raagam - all songs
  kodi parakkuthu - sElai kattum, kaathal ennai
  
  But the pick of all such MDs, IMO, is Balabarathi. He has scored only for 3 movies - thalaivaasal, amaraavathi and aavathum peNNaalE azhivathum peNNaalE. The first two has absolutely magnificient songs. One special mention to 'taaj mahal thEvayillai' from amaraavathi.
  
  It reminds you of 'How to Name it' and 'aanandha raagam' (pannIr pushpangaL). It is such a lovely song that you will defenitely mistake it for Raja.

  Baalabaarathi has done one more movie. The
  movie stars Pandiyarajan, Ishwarya. The name
  is something like "poranthaalum pombilaya
  porakkakoodaathu"...
  He showed some touches of Ilaiyaraja initially.
  Apart from "taaj mahaal", there is a SJ solo
  which reminds Ilayaraja tune. Anyone
  remember this song?

  Hi guys,
  This is a excellent discussion form. I felt really bad that I could not participate earlier.
  
  Balabharathy was awesome in thalivasal, and amaravathy. Another song in amaravathy, which I like is 'puthum pudu malare'. In 'tajmahal' his interludes were so good, that initially I thought it should be IR.
  Rajan nagendra has another good song in
  'veetiku veedu vasapadi' in the film with the same name.
  Other nameless mds, which I thought of now are thaianban ( 'devi koondolo brindavanam',
  Devarajan ( lot of good songs in 70's, popular in malayalam,
  dakshnamoorthy ( same, one good song is ' nanda en nila'),
  vijay anand ( from kannada , good songs in 'naan admi illai'),
  nikil-vinay in the film nanbargal,
  msv's son in one of the recent abavannan movie, his music was impressive in the trailer, I saw.

  Philip and Jerry should be added to this for their promising work debut in "Thottaachchinungi". "Manamae Thottaachchinungithaanae" was a breezy ballad with simple, fetching keyboard music. Too bad we haven't heard from this duo since then. I saw a recent release by them in the stores, but it could be a private non-TF album, I'm not sure.
  
  Agosh can be added to this list, although they (I learnt that Agosh is made up of three different studio musicians) can't be no names much longer.
  Harichandhra launched them with a bang, "Nadodip Paattu" was a beautiful melody reminiscent of Hindi melodies from the 70s. I was delighted by the careful orchestration of each stanza and interlude, a perfect give and take between music and vocals. The song was decently written as well.
  "Mundhaanaich Chelai" was a good folk duet from the same movie.
  
  Kodeeswaran probably their second movie, has another great song by Agosh, "Tholaivinilae" --haven't heard the other numbers from the movie. "Tholaivinilae's" composition is very unconventional for TFM and rates closer to a Western pop ballad. The string arrangements and keyboard music are sensational. I have hopes for their future. I hope it encourages the entry of more new blood to TFM.

  I think evryone has missed music director 'Veda' who scored memorable music in "adhe kangal " and in some other detective films(like naan and moonrezuthu) .
  One more MD-->Kumar who scored music in the film
  'Sadhurangam' which was a Rajni film .No one can forget 'Vijayanand' for his composition in "naan adimai illai "

  There is a song called Ela nenje va starring Prashanth and Swetha and sung by Yesudas and Music is by Ilayaraja. Can anybody tell me what is the name of the movie. There is also another song Kannamma kadhaendrum kavidhai solvadi sung by IR.
