i read the article, while nicely worded and lucid retelling of intricate aspects, diplomatically some big blunders when detailing the cooperation of producer.
point #1 - when it is clearly known that mukta wanted a decent profit making movie - why did mani and kamal do the experimentation on his money? avar kaettaara experiment panni times mag la varra movie pannungonnu?
point #2 - there is a section where kamal says mani wouldnt have had all those heart attacks so early in life had the producer not tochalled. - that is totally uncalled for and a direct attributable insinuation against the producer. Naalaikke mani adutha attackla para logam poittaa sugaasini thaaliya kaila vechukittu court case podalaam - claiming for liabilities - and she can cite this article as a solid proof that 'killer stress' was piled on her hubby by prodeesar.

instead of going into producer angle - he could have simply told what they did in the set .. still would have educated and enlightened us in every minute way..

I think this article was all the more about shooting style, ergonomics and technicalities for the pre production and production phase - nothing about post production and songs. So you dont have to go hypothesizing the reaction of a 'group' to a hypothetical mani ratnam interview. BTW music sectionla kamal solli kaatra alavukku raaja pin thangiyum illai - andha areala naangallaam hollywood ukkum minnaadi nikkramla. (collar lifting) - some advantages of IR peddling with the abstract stuff like meesik which no producer would understand anything on. BTW it is surprising that Muktha let Raaja score the movie - for he is a well known MSV / non-IR sympathiser. Even for post nayagan movies he went to chandrabose.

No producer will agree for experimenting and none of them know what is what abt making Great Cinemas. Kamal has done more commercial stuff for others and more experiments in his own banner. How much more risk you want him to take?!?

After all, Naayagan made good profits no? Also kamal, most of the times when the movie he did for others didn't do well, he had compensated. Just think now that even bg stars big budget films are continuously flopping. Art Film eduthu flop panna koodaathunnaa commercial aa eduthaalum Flop aachunnaa enna solveenga?!? And if producers like Muktha knew what will sell and what will not, why can't they themselves direct and create blockbusters?!

Yes Cinema is a Business, but it is not Business only.

Above all, if ppl are talking dumb like this for a movie like Naayagan which succeeded BOTH commercially and critically(touched the ballpark of what maximum an indian Cinema can achieve) then i have no words

Going by Kamal's writeup, even Mukta is not a worried man about the content. Just that he either has justifications for his act which kamal felt not-so-nice, or is unhappy that this guy let open all the things which happened past 25 yrs ago. Nowhere did he say that he is NOW worried about Naayagan;s content. Don;t make up stories

ultimately producer invests the money and therefore has more stakes in the movie than star/technicians etc.. BTW still we have films produced by single guy risking his/her money on some abstract ideas - idhula Mukta is known for a long time in the industry to be a guy who did mostly low budget comedies/family dramas - if mani and kamal were so hell bent on experimenting/hollywooding varadha's biopic - they could have done that early on and saved the unsavory exchanges and name calling which seems to be the reason for expiry of producer's brother and 4 heart attacks of chain smoking mani rathinam.
