Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....
Also; use this thread to discuss this album..
Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

C~P,
What ever you are saying is correct like
why it flopped
shankar has a better market
and all those things
But why do you attach a value to Shankar, that is the reason that is irking you like "Shankars film can't have this and that"
Yes, Shankars earlier movies were surely watchable with parents but not Boys.
Can somebody watch Hey ram with Parents?
It became a flop, but his next movie Thenali is a huge hit, Just like how people accept Kamal hassan why not you accept Shankar.

Thiru,
As I said, I condemn such stuff irrespective of the director. It is not that Shankar has a tag attached to his name that he should follow the same style or anything. He took the risk and found it out for himself that people aren't welcoming such movies. He had bear the impact more because his films normally have a good family crowd. There is nothing more to it in my opinion.
Hope I got clearly what you are saying?
And I never said I am not looking forward to Anniyan or something. I am sure that Shankar would be extra careful to make it a hit movie by avoiding all the aspects that earnt him a bad name. So, I definitely will watch Anniyan. But the only thing that hurts me in Anniyan is that there is no ARR :-(
See, back to music! :-)

Ya you got what i meant :-)
I am not too bothered about ARR's absence in Anniyan, i believe HJ would beg borrow or steal :-) get some tunes charting.
As long as ARR works with Maniratnam that is good enough for me, plus his hindi projects.
I am looking forward to Rising 1857 as ARR and Aamir khan seem have the chemistry.

And C~P did you observe his interview?
He said one guy needn't occupy all the space to make routine tunes.
Shankars movies have a pattern to attract all a,b,c centers.
While Maniratnam gives him more scope by the nature of his scripts.

Raathiri nerathula Copy paste seyya somberithanam. Sorry! :-)
Btw...I did feel Shankar and ARR were at ease too. I mean, they got along really well. They knew what to give and take. ARR music was a support to Shankar in all his films. I would surely miss that combo.

Hey ya guys,
I'm back......say, I've a prob. here- I just bought a new VCD here in Singapore of what was supposed to be the PG version of BOYS, w/ sum of the scenes cut from the original....an watching it I found it did have sum cut scenes, like the 'experiences' of each boy w/ the pros....none of that is shown here so its not the original movie for sure....however, I find the scenes that r even more obscene, viz. the boy Krishna rubbing his backside against an aunties' an so on (Girlfriend song) r still very much there in it! Damn I feel cheated.....if they cud cut short the pros. scene, how come they didn' cut out these scenes as well since they're far more grosse!! X(
Anyone else out there w/ similar prob.??

Hi Alll
I have just on this site, as I was looking for transliterated lyrics for Boom Boom from Boys, I have read your reviews and everything saod about Shanker, but I can honestly tell you, that this movie is the Biigest thing here in South Africa amonhgst the Tamil community. This songs gets played everywhere, its appealing to a market that is key to the future of Tamil people. Belonging to a lot of youth organisations, there has been a demand for this song to be transliterated.

Is the failure of Boys at the box-office because of its vulgarity alone? Dhool had equally double entendres and more visual vulgarity. But it became a huge hit. So what does that prove?
Its basically the inherent hypocrisy in each one of us. Each parent is apalled at the fact that his son could even be thinking about such things (leave alone speaking). But he has no qualms with Dhool comedy.
Atleast Boys stressed upon the values pretty forcibly in the 2nd half and brought out the point that one needs to strive hard to succeed in life. It was a very good movie..but didnt run for the simple reason that ppl maintained their double-standards.
If you think that guys this age do not know/speak about all the stuff that caused problems, dream on!!!
