Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.
This work was done by us (bb and RR) with MS and swara.com ravi.

one of the early gems of IR. in one way it is good that this song was not in the movie. listening to it takes one to a new plane. can't imagine sudhakar singing it in the movie.
the way SJ sings the following line is simply beautiful.
Kuaruvizhi urangaamal
Kanavugall arangera
Illamai nathigall
Irandum innaiyattume !

bb- thanks for yet another enchanting song.
Geeth, as you say, SJ is simply mesmerising in those lines. MVD follows her with
Manmathan thirukkoyil adhil kaadhal poojai
Ennaalume arasaalume
kaadhal vaanam poomazhaithoova--
The 'lalilalaali' interlude is great. Awesome song. Lyrics by Sirpi Balasubramaniam. IR, in this film, has used various lyricists for each song- 'Kovil mani osai' was by Kannadasan, 'Poovarasampoo'-GA and 'Maanjolai kilithaano'-Muthulingam.

and that last 'ting' sound with which the song ends. one of the rare songs which ends with a cute ending !

The words are goddamn hard to read. It is a very poor representation of tamil words in english. Try changing it soon, or the website is gonna fail. I can promise you that. Try changing it soon.

This is such a miracle of a song!
Thanks!
It also proves that MVD was definitely given short-shrift by many MDs. The man does a splendid job in this semi-classical number...and I can instantly recall similar successes in Sugaragame (Kanni Rasi) and Madhanamogarupasundari (Indru Poi Nalai Vaa).

Yet another excellent duet from the IR-SJ-MV combo! (with 'Tanga Changili minnum paingiLi' from 'ThooRal ninnu pOchu' following a close second)...
The song, with fairly good lyrics, rendered with flair by both SJ and MV flows smoothly.. like K.S. Raja used to tell on Radio Ceylon, 'ThEnOdai pOnRRa inimayaAna, teLivAna nadai'!
Interesting use of Hamsadhwani (Pallavi), MadhyamAvathi (charaNams) and PantuvarALi (end of CharaNam. eg. 'Rati DEvi thAn'...)
Like Geeth said, the song if featured in the film, would have become yet another eyesore like the picturization of 'MAnjolaik KiLi dAno' which had Radhika jumping around gracelessly in the name of classical dance!

Peter Pan, my favorite IR-SJ-MV combo song is malargaLilE aaraadhanai.

Baba, this is pretty much a standard way of writing thamizh in english. This corresponds closely to the murasu keyboard, and is phonetically simple. The sound and the pronounciation is clearly defined by this style. This is pretty much the way you would write in anjal. it also helps distinguish vallinam from mellinam, idaiyinam.

bb,
MalargaLilE from 'Karumbu vil(?)' is of course an unforgettable classic by the trio. SJ in this song scores over her male counterpart with her command over classical gamakas (just like she did in sOrgamE endrAlum)
Hope to see this song as 'Song of the Day' soon.
Here's a suggestion:
It would be great to showcase some rare gems from the past once a week, songs that many fellow surfers have not had the opportunity to enjoy.

paamaran, good one. sort of reflects the songs i have, i guess. i don't have much of SAR/Sirpi.
an important miss is VijayaBhaskar. so, here we go:
Song of the Day: samsaaram enbadhu veeNai from mayangugiraaL oru maadhu.

bb- Great choice. VB had given four excellent songs in the film, the other three being 'Varavendum vaazhkayil vasantham'-KJY, 'Sugam aayiram' and 'Oru puram vedan' both by VJ. Sujatha had given a memorable performance as the heroine. The film was made in Hindi years later as 'Bezubaan'- and Reena Roy couldn't come anywhere near Sujatha.
bb- V Kumar seems to be another miss- Can we expect 'Vaazhvil sowbhaagiyam vandhadhu'/ 'Unnidam Mayangugiren' soon?! :-)

Hi,
I am unable to play the song in my system. what are the prerequisites for playing the songs from this site.
I was thrilled to see this discussions page as i am seeing this site for the first time. All these i was thinking i am the only guy who enjoyed the ting sound at the end of the song "Malargale" in K.Pogum rail. I love SJ and IR combination. I have so much to discuss. "Malargalile aaradani" in Karumbu vill is another super song.

Rusi kanda poonai (dir GN Rengarajan) has the same story like Mayangugiral oru mathu.
BB
After V Kumar you can consider G Devarjan.Songs like
Vanamenum veethiyile -Annai Velankanni
Tiruparkadalil -Swami ayyappan
Velli rathangal -Paruva kalam
could be considered.

Another fine song. Thanks!
I really don't know where to post this - but I guess this is as good a place as any:
Just some thoughts/feedback regarding TFM-page -
a. The "updated almost daily" below the News section is beginning to seem like a tragic joke. Is there a shortage of film news / views / interviews / reviews....just curious.
b. The page is sustained (mostly) by the discussion threads (this is a guesstimate). What is the TFM-Page collective up to these days? Are the working on any changes to the format? Are there any new projects / possibilities in the pipeline?
c. There is an abundance of good writing (and writers)and many informed posters in many of the discussion threads, from all sorts of geographies. Have they been approached to do features etc. regularly. Why is there such a famine of critiques / appreciation (in a formal sense) in TFM page?
d. I have no idea regarding the number of hits, and the number of visitors to this page. Is there a way to monitor these things? What has TFM page done to nurture the regular posters - those who are involved in tamizh thiraiisai sevai?
Personally, I believe, this place can rock - critically and otherwise. But more and more, I am getting a sense that the founders of the page are either too busy, or somewhat complacent, or just plain smug. To slide down that slippery slope would be a great loss to all of us. At least, those of us who have committed ourselves to healthy, constructive discussions and sharing would like to see this portal get that much needed shot in the arm.
Is anybody listening? :-)
(Thank you for your ear.)
