I hope you will give a large tolerance is given to the number of posts per page as in the old DF - Substantial posts are permitted until the thread moves into Old Responses. If this isnt given it will kill viewer enthusiasm :(
Will there be a mechanism to save posts of a particular thread in the new DF? For instance, in the old DF, I used to save all subthreads and run a parser program to bundle up all posts into a single file. I hope saving posts in the new DF wont be a cumbersome task :(
(Hey, I am roll number 1 there :-))

bb,
will our sotd membership will also be transferred to your proposed site or do we have to refresh it there too?
Anyhow, it is a very sad day for TFM page.
A wonderfull team and effort has broken up and we the TFM-ers are weeping silently.
I also echo Vijay's views whole-heartedly and if somehow the old is restored, I will be happy.
If not I will still be visiting you both as usual.

No!!!! :-(
newtfmpage looks awesome this way!!
Basically every other Discussion Forum has that format with all the bluey bluey background stuff. newtfmpage, as it is, has a much better feel to it. Lets not lose the uniqueness! :-)
I understand that all this is being done to make this simple page more effective. New features like "Registration" and "View Posts by this user" are highly useful additions. Its gonna make it a lot easier to moderate it. But why change the layout of the site?? That is just not newtfmpage! :-(
Maintaining a profile for the users is just unnecessary in my opinion. Just uses up webspace! A display image is definitely not required. Loadsa images in a page is just gonna make it tooooo slow.
The current page however is not organised properly. It is indeed difficult to retrieve details which one may need. Google doesnt help! It lists 1000 links and also displays a message saying that some pages were omitted! :-) So you could possibly add some feature to make retrieval easier.
The search criteria may include..
1) MD
2) Lyricist
3) Singer
4) Director
5) Date (Year, Month and year etc for Thread Creation/Last Post Made)
6) User (To list the posts made by a particular user)
Importantly, search results based on MD should be based on the thread topic alone. Coz even HJ vs Deva threads have IR Vs ARR fights! ;-)
So my choice is...
Current Layout + Registration + Some data retrieval mechanism
All The Best

I know it's too late for this..
but perhaps u cud have had this in ur weekly poll. :(
Quite a few have expressed the same thing..
Same format + registration.
It's one thing adapting to changing times.. but this? I feel like Rip Van Winkle already! :( And to think I'm yet to touch 19!
hmmm,
I dont think I'll be such a regular member nemore (did i jus hear a collective sigh of relief?). Why did this hafta happen? :(
neways,
All the best guys.

Cant we have all the login stuff and retain the same look and feel of newtfmpage.
New look is also good. Hats off to the hardwork that has gone in. Great job RR and team
But one thing thats lacking in the new page is simplicity. Most of us browse from office. Once in a hr or so, we just logonto newtfmpage find relevant threads and finish off. And it looks like a real simple site with no jing bang graphics and all.
So manager paatha kooda edho technical forum arattai appadinu mazhuppa chance irundadhu.
But now new thread la one has to spend time to post or read posts. :-((
I am not a newtfmpage veteran and all. I have been here for past 1 year and hooked on to newtfmpage from day one.
bb sir poradha nenacha kashtama irukku. Saravanan posts illama newtfmpage aa?? i dont know what to say.
Periyavanga ellam onnu seranum. Adhu dhaan ennoda aasai. Please reconsider decision.

"New look is also good. Hats off to the hardwork that has gone in. Great job RR and team "
lol!its the default layout of the free phpbb forum!
Lot of phpbb, vbulletin forums around, time to create a global login system(like .NET passport)
just my 1 cent thought. :)

Hi SK,vijay & all:
On BB: yeah, there were some differences and he said he'll quit. We tried to talk, and I asked him to reconsider his decision but he wanted out. I did feel bad, but I had to agree. That's it. It was a peacful settlement, no big issue. BTW, this is not related to the revamp. The revamp was in the works for quite sometime.
TFM Page has been around since 1995. BB joined us, I think, around the new millenium time, and has been good part of TFM Page and Forum Hub efforts during the last few years, and I value his contributions. More than that, he is a good friend to me (how can I forget the PP & AP days!). Good luck to him and Dhool.Com! BB, I checked out the new Dhool forum, very nice! congrats!
Well, it's time to move on. The TFMP team is growing. Stay tuned for more. Didn't I promise new things :)
My responce to the new DF comments, is coming next.

Thanks for all the good wishes, votes of support and feedback. Keep them coming as we need to constantly make improvements.
We all fear change, even change for the better. :) We just need to overcome that fear and breeze our way through to new found freedom.
newtfmpage has been around for more than 9 years now and has evolved to be one of the foremost discussion pages on Tamil music on the internet. This was made possible by all your participation and cooperation. The TFMP Team were merely the facilitators to this, resulting in us being a big, happy family. :)
The time has now arrived to take newtfmpage to a higher plane, and with all your contributions and cooperation, we will be able to do it. Please take note of the following.
We have exciting plans in store in the near future, where we will be bringing key TFM Personalities for live interaction with you. We are now talking with some TOP Kollywood people and arrangements are being made to begin live chats and continual discussions. This list include Music Directors, Singers, Lyricists and other key people involved in the music industry in India.
As such, a clean and new DF is important to provide assurance to these celebrities.
To address your concerns,
Registration & Login:
1. Registration is FREE for everyone. Anyone, including celebrities, can participate easily and without concerns as there is no need for any payment, email reference or any other business association.
2. (Silent) viewing doesn't require registration. Anyone and everyone can read ALL postings, without having to register.
3. As for registration procedures, this is a one-time thing. After the preliminaries, you don't have to worry about anything, but can just discuss merrily away.
4. You don't have to logon every day if you have a private PC. Just make sure that you tick the box - upon loggin in - at the "log me on automatically each visit". After that, you will never ever have to login again!
But don't just take our word for it. Visit the new Forum at http://forumhub.lunarpages.com/hub/index.php and discover how easy and fun things are. Develop your own avatar, create your own identity and continue with all the fun you have had so far and more.
Layout change:
For one, I and Ravi are a big favorite of this simple layout & setup. Yes, true. It's kind of idiot-proof (sorry, no offense :) and encourages participation & hence traffic. Surely we don't want to kill the traffic. But we learned a hard lesson. It is manageable when traffic is low. But when it's so high as on TFM Page (no, this is not a complaint :), we found the hard way that it simply is not sustainable. There's a living proof: see what happened to at Forum Hub recently! We surely don't want that to happen to TFM Page, do we?
We understand that the browsing is not so easy as it used to be. We'll definitely help make the switch smoother (as I stated in migration FAQ). First, you can view the topics almost like the current style already:
http://newtfmpage.com/forum/new.html
(this is an option, and mentioned in the Migration FAQ.)
Since there's great demand, we'll also make the posts viewable using the old style. Just as an option. It IS possible. Will that be ok?
Keep checking this page for more updates.
We are also still open for ideas.
