  I agree with some people when they say trends have changed. Yes, trends have changed, and anyway IR has occupied the centr stage as long as anyone could. I think he should now concentrate on non-film based composing- more of 'how to name it' and 'nothing but wind'. That would allow him lot of creative freedom also.

  This thread had started by NOV in 1997 jun!.
  If you go back in time, you will see faces like
  sirpi, athiyan, vidyasagar. SAR wasnt in the picture then. Look how much change in a short time. Deva is the only one sticking around and doing well.
  
  Lot of changes has happened in movie making too. Then there was big movies and big songs. It went off and came, mindless comedies, later new directors with romance, tear jerkers, mind shockers. The time rolls on. Still ...
  
  Raja is flying high in terms of music with likes of kannukkul nilavu, Heyram, Bharati etc. Though he is not TFM himself as it use to be a decade ago, his stature hasnt changed a bit.

  rehman songs can get quickly into public but can go out of them very quickly. can u find any thing after hearing his songs let say for 50 times ??
  ilayaraja's songs also never leave us. its passes into our sole and those songs are marvelous and even u find new and want to hear after hearing thosand times. the word BGM(back ground music) was introduced by Ilayaraja. i want his songs to put into this world of music.
  he is great . no one can beat him.

  Try to understand that these were the same thing said about MSV by your fathers and grandfathers. This generation kid know little about the greatness of MSV, KVM and others.
