  The rustic quality in Bhava's voice is
  enticing. Who can sing like IR!! Some of
  the recent songs sung by Thalaivar are absolutely
  enchanting.

  You must have been in some kind of a very bad mood today :-) Yenna maestri paduthitaara ? :-) Sure, others' poor singing does not qualify IR from singing. But just as you don't disqualify other MDs from singing, I request you not to disqualify IR from singing ! Whether Bavatharini is IR's Asai Magal or not is his personal affair. Why should we comment on it ? I used to hate Shahul Hammeed's voice (may his soul rest in peace), and I even used to think that ARR used him often because of his friendship. Now I realize that that was an unfair claim, simply because I am not eligible to comment of ARR's personal affairs. It is only natural that I expect the same of you, isn't it ?
  
  I was not saying that IR should continue singing because so many LM singers were profitting by it. I was only saying that IR's voice was also popular with the masses and that we could not play an IR song on stage without using a singer with the right tone. In fact, IR's songs were so popular that we had to compulsarily play atleast a couple of them and then again, we had to use a singer who could reproduce IR's tone.
  
  BTW, I would like you to retract your comment where you imply that IR sings (brays) like a donkey. It was made in poor taste. Now, I am sure your boss must have kaduchified you today :-)

  How often do you find deva singing? ARR usually sings only the columbus /mustafa/ humma type of songs. The music is catchy and the singing quality probably doesn't matter. People like it (or don't mind it) and so he keeps doing it. IR also has given many songs like that - raja..raajathi raja / april mayile/ so on. I believe that all these songs were hits because of their music and not because of the talent of the singer ....even with other singers they would have been hits. I have also liked IR in songs like thenpandi cheemayile (Nayagan) and similar slow songs. He should stick to those.Imagine ARR singing ennavale /uyire/anbe anbe ? At least ARR sounds young. IR doesn't. IR's voice lacks the sophistication.
  
  I do agree that we tend to forget the situation for songs. I would like to remember IR as a MD rather than as a singer or anything else. Let's say that IR knows how to play drums. How would you feel if he uses and plays only drums in most of his songs so that he will be well-known in future for that? He is the MD. He has to choose the right singer so that his product is more appealing.
  
  The problem is no one can tell him to stop singing. The losers are the producers and the public because good music is being spoilt by bad singing. So what is the option? Go to other MDs! I can understand IR's passion for singing. If he wants to sing, he should release an album on his own. If people like it, they'll buy it. We berate ARR/Karthik Raja for using Udit Narayan.   Let us again read what I wrote.. Off late raja's voice is not good. He should stop singing.

  I am not in bad mood at all. Mestri um nanum ipa rumba friends..The implementaion went well - I did some good work(boasting).
  
  En kavalaI ennana Thalivar should do something to capture his place back from others (noT Arr alone). Intha samayathula avar mic ka pedichi arambicharna irukara songs pootacase..(sorry for local words..)
  Raja scoring la than king..not in singing or writing lyrics.

  i agree with u reg. raja's voice.
  BTW i have been listening to some of his old songs like janani janani and metii oli kaatrodu from metti which i consider the greatest song sung by him.perhaps his voice is suited only for soft numbers like 'thendral vandhhu theendum' from avathaaram.i get sometimes uncomfortable when IR tries to sing songs like 'enna paaaduvathu' from keladi kanmani or 'chandiranum sooriyanum' (although BGM is good and his voice suits nasser's)from avathaaram.
  
  of late his trend sems to be taking the most melodious song in an album and making 2 or 3 versions of it with himself singing in one of them.people give 45 bugs in india to buy a cassette to listen to 7 songs,but 3 of them are the same!!!iam greedy to hear 7 different songs from IR!
  
  also srikanth i wanted to know your opinion about
  'metti oli kaatrodu'.what do u think about the song as such and IR's rendition?

  I agree with Srikanth.. IR seems to be relying too much on his voice offlate . Though I do not know of the reasons, I guess IR is not compeltely successful in that aspect. Probably SPB /Mano etc..would have done a better job.. I am not all that crazy abt hariharan and Unni's voice either..
  
  But may be he has the same problems with singers that he has/had with directors.. One other reason could be that he is doing a lot
  of R&D these days .. this is evident in Poonthottam ,Guru etc.. . and feels that only he can do justice to the subtleties of the tunes that he comes up.. or may be he is trying to save money on paying the singers ..or he gets more money for singing as well.. This is just my guess.. I may be wrong ,..
  
  But whatever be the reasons , the fact is that the % of songs sung by IR per Album has gone up dramatically ..and the result is not all that dramatic except for 10-20% of the songs.
  
  But one thing that surprises me is Why is SPB being sidelined.. he still has the golden voice ( Listen to Dharma songs ).. Even IR does'nt give many songs to SP.?? Of the very few songs that he
  gives to singers, SP's share is very very small.
  
  
  Yes! If IR wants to produce "mass" hits like he used to,( which I wish every day )then he should start using SP more.
  
  
  On the other Hand, I disagree with people who say Bhavatharini's voice is not good. I had the same opinion when i heard the song "orun sinna mani kuyiul.." ( i forgot the movie) in 1996 .. but oflate she is doing a good job.. En veetu jannal (Raman abdullah) , Ithu Sangeetha thirunaal ( KM etc are very good ..
  
  The latest songs also are good. But then each one has his own taste. I have a lot of friends who hate SJ's voice but she's is my alltime favourite singer .. Excellent voice and the most versatile female singer i have ever heard.
