  Today I discovered the cassette Sendhooram
  by IR! It has a great songs in it, There are
  three songs which are first time impressor.
  
  The Music has a New Gramatthu touch with different
  kind of music!
  
  Aalamaram Maelamaram by UnniKrishnan
  and Bhavatharini
  
  Chinna Manikkaga by Ilayaraaja is simply
  Great! Great tune! Great Music!
  
  Un pakkathhil poo by Ilayaraja and Mala.
  This song is so special that Mala never sings

  Hmmmm....I have been listening to 'iru kangaL pOdhAdhu', 'sembaruththi', 'manakkum sandhanamE'
  (all from dharmA).......These new singers ought to take lessons from SPB. Lyrics, orchestration, tune, pronunciation and clarity (hallmark in Maestro's creations) - dharmA songs are great. Just great and SPB walks away with the accolades.
  Let those sulking singers out there learn from him.......

  Tamil version of NMH is horrible. But each one is a gem in Kannada. My favourite is " kele kokille.. a female Solo.. Amazing song.!! Ithu kaettu vittu unga opinion sollunga..
  
  Dharma songs are amazing and like MPR said, the title song is slightly of the album's standards.. but still will make a hit like Baatcha paaru..
  
  Senthooram song "Aalamaram" is my fav also.
  VEry simple but very very melodious tune...
  
  All in all a very good quarter from IR.
  
  I just cannot remove the Poonthottam/dharma cassette from my car system. ..

  IR fans
  'NMH" is definitely far superior than "Kangalin Vaartahigal" in all aspects, I recommend all all IR fans to listen to NMH , one of the best albums from IR in 90's. SPB rules, but srprisingly most of the songs in "Hoomazhe" are by other singers but still the songs are fun

  Set to Akhir bhairvi..Reminds me of DEvaim thanda veedu...
  . The bgms are set very nice..but

  Some one should request him to stop singing..
  Who will bell the cat? ...if he continues this trend...there will be no new Raja songs or no one will listen to his song by Y2000....

  IRukku konjam high pitch pOna thaan sruthi lEsa idikkum. In his normal pitch, I feel it is quite clear and steady. You can attribute a loss of sruthi only to nature - it wasn't as kind to his voice box. But to say that he is unaware when he loses sruthi is unfair. A man who is known as much for his perfection as for his creativity could never be blind to mistakes in his own voice. If his voice was so unbearable, how come so many light music singers made up a career by singing only IR's voice in troupes ? There are certain songs that we wouldn't dare put on stage unless we had a good 'IR voice' with us. I remember one such voice belonged to a guy called Manimaran from the Music College in Adyar. Yes, IR's voice is flawed, but to say that it is unbearable is not justified. What do you say ? :-)

  I agree with Srikanth (@ 161.225.48.3). Raja is singing way too many songs these days. I have also felt that he is wasting good tunes. He should limit himself to songs that suit his voice (slow, thathuva paadalgal). It's irritating when he tries to sing romantic songs. It's funny when our die-hard IR fans justify his singing saying that his voice has thullal, man vasanai, etc!
  
  Bhavatharini - she simply sucks. Everyone's criticizing Hariharan for emotionless singing. How about Bhava?
  
  I guess nothing can be done about it - no director or actor is gonna have the guts to tell IR that someone else should sing!

  I believe the songs themselves far outlive their on-screen visual (mis)representations. I agree that IR singing for young heroes these days does not contribute much to the situational aspect of the song. But in the long run, people usually forget who the hero was or what the situation was in the movie. In that case, I feel there is nothing wrong with IR singing his own compositions. You may argue that the songs are primarily created to depict a situation in poetry, and you would be absolutely right. But that is only as far as we are concerned. Where the creator of those melodies are concerned, his songs are not temporary entities that serve a purpose and then die out. To him they are expressions of the soul and they live on. When Deva (kaata kural) and ARR (poor pronunciation)can sing, surely IR too can sing. What do you say ? :-)

  Poor singing of others does not justify Raja's voice or singing.
  I am sure IR would not let bhavdarani around his studio....but for his Asai magal.

  Singing for prosperty of light music singers - come on...it like saying DEVA is copying to popularize Raja songs..
  There is no doubt he can identity his sruthi losses..but still he sings for a vimbhu...
  Off late..I cant stand or sit for his voice

  We Human beings cannot bray like a donkey... but still we dont consider donkey's bray as greatness....
