mr. irfan did you say people going after him? no , trustme he is just getting his usual. virunthu? what virunthu, you call virathalatu a virunthu? when i heard the song nan thunda kano thunia kanno endru ran! if that is the beggining i want to see the end!
what jeans a flop? ridiculous! it is a chart buster in every countdown in tamil and south! in hindi it was making its way to the top. untill the flim was released. and shankars commercial tricks didnt work . box office faliure. it was a sad ending to a flim with great music were the words of tv host of countdown shows in the north. i guess u might have to do some research!

sree, i didnot mean the tune was the same i meant the background! you know the beat of ir lone succesful flim kathaluku.... songs those beats were once again used. trust me i have listened to the songs couple of time. they were just good, not a treat to the ears.

Reasoning.

Jeans is not a Hit only for ARR.

Shankar is solely responsible for extracting work from everyone.
Shankar had done a wonderful job in the movie.
I like his way of intro. lot of firsts...

buddy, you do agree jeans was a musical hit, and it was hit all over india, but for shankars work as a director, his paccha only palichuthu in tamil, maybe he thinks we are a fool, tell me what was good about jeans, the story goes i love her dad, but son u can't marry her, because i had brother in india.... my god great story

reasoning

My reasoning for why Jeans is hit bec. of Shankar

o Made prasanth act and look decent.

o No one would have picturised better than Shankar.

o Even Hollywood directors haven't picturised on the 7 wonders for a film.

o Extracted best out of Nasar and Lakshmi.

o Made use of Asokh kumar very well.

o Extracted the best out of Balakumaran and A.R.Rehman.

o It was not a hit in hindi because of the hero starcast. Prasanth......
Just Imagine if sharukh had acted in that movie it would have been a blockbuster.

o It was not a very big musical hit in Hindi.
Only 3 songs made it to the charts.

o Shankar made the movie universal by not including vulgarity in the movie.

o Shankar can provide blockbusters without ARR' music. I hope ARR is not the MD for his next movie.

o Overall he has done a wonderful job

Mr. Reasoning:

U r correct. PoonthOttam songs are nice, but they are not "unique" in style & evoking mood. Im a hardcore fan of IR, but after ur comment, I listened them again with open mind.

In the New Year song, some musical patterns reminds me of "oh baby baby" of KM. I doubt whether its composed really by IR. There could be KR's "contribution" also in this sick lousy piece.

vaanaththu tharagaiO: I find slight "similiarity"
with "Ninaiththa varam vEndum" from the movie
kaathal RojavE in terms of the stream/flow of the song, syntax of the backgorund beats. Some of the interlude violins, reminds me of Devadai
song "oru naaL"

vaanaththilirundhu kuthichchu vandhanaa:
its a great song! I have no doubt. But humming
this song very madly made me to tunnel into
"aNNan enna thambi enna solladi enakku uravai"
Atleast I felt its not unique!

aNNaN songs:

oththa robbaavukku oru rooba: reminds me of,
Captain Prabhakaran's "aattamaa thErOttamaa"

kaNmaNikku vaazhththu paadum: ennai thaalatta
varuvaala's influence/patterns are very evident
in the interludes.

But there is a welcoming change in IR's music,
and now I can buy IR's cassettes with out any
hesitation.

Regarding Jeans
The worst movie I have ever seen in my life.
Ramanarayanan is better.
It was worse than Tuesday DD drama.
The brain tumer.. staying back in US...The anthashkri sequecece.. Nazars Twin role,

Technology alone does not help!, There has to be some story..the basics canniot be ignored..
--- The only good point are the songs, they were shot very well in places like Bad lands - ND , Grand Canayon...That too because of ARs somewhat good score.

I have question , why the hell he named it as jeans.-
when there better names like Cotton Tondu -- Kambli - - Waste (mechanices will have it)

Hi...,
I am just wondering is there any misunderstanding between IR and Kasturi Raja and IR and RV Udayakumar? For Vellinilave, IR was initially assigned and then someone else composed the music. Even with KasturiRaja, all the upcoming movies are
scored by IR. Does anyone know regarding this matter. I am waiting for your replies....

Friends,

I got the poondhottam cassette yesterday
and already I have listened to
Vaanathu TharagaiyO and meettadha oru Veenai several times.....

Romba nalla irukku ..... no words to praise ....

I also got Kaannathaaal and Dharma
and Hooamalae (Kannada Album) of IR
haven't listened to it yet.

Stuck with these two songs in poondhottam! :-))))

In one listening to the Kannathaal songs,
hhhmmmmm IR has cheated me with
this Album, only one song seems to be OK but
that one too is a Amman Song.

I can listen to the Poondhottam songs for about
a Month from Now, and I am Happy with that Album!

Thanks to a friend, I was able to listen to four songs in pUndhOttam. It was
more hype and less sarakku. In mIttAdha oru vINai, it sounds like hariharan and
mahalakshmi have a competition of "who sounds more constipated". One of us should
take up the responsibility of telling hariharan that the emperor is naked!
IR should start using real instruments instead of the fake one (I mean kb)
to sound good. The interludes in that song are terrific but somehow sound hollow.
The best song, IMO, oc (of course :-)) ), is that pUndhOttam (title?) song
that starts with the word inbam. The first interlude is the best one
I have heard recently.

Geetha: All about Hariharan is IMO! :-))))
I know you are fan of Hariharan! and like his
voice, I too like Hariharan in certain songs!
Like Uyirae Uyirae in Bombay and Vidukadhaiyaa
in Muthu, he sounds great in that!

IR even though his voice is a bit old for the
songs lines, he seems to sing with thuLLal,
thudippu and Kilirchi, seems lively when
singing along with him!

Hi Bhaskar,

I am not a fan of Raja's voice(I dont like it) but I have to agree with you. Whenever I hear Raja's version I sing along. With Hariharan's version I dont get the same enthu.
