  listening to poonthotam. thx for reminding me this album which i had enjoyed when it was released. it is time IRfans released that his success was partly team work with the director, the lyricist, and the actor. however, this doesn't deny the fact that HIS MUSIC is divine inspiration, while directors, lyricists, actors or singers are just mere vehicles.

  BTW, guys listen to Kasi, and Azhagi(good version), maybe in Cd or cassette...you can find a lot of difference than the online real audio song versions.

  Sorry guys, really couldn't make it last night. But I have spoken extensively with a fellow comrade who has seen it. The initial response is that Vikram has done an outstanding job. Definitely a contender for the National Award. Our Raaja has proved yet again that there is only one maestro in the Indian Music scene. The BGM's, I hear, are marvellous and the songs have been used very well by the director. My friend tells me that it's another feather to Raaja's cap. But then we all know, these directors need Raaja more than he needs them. I will post a detailed review once I've seen the movie myself. Ode to the King.......

  and saran, i did not forget the "VAANATHU THARAGAIYO" song from POONTHOTTAM...I thought it was from the movie THODARUM (I have the song though with me...)...Apart from the greatness of the tune, Raja has used "silence" quite stunningly in that song..as the interludes get completed, the charanam starts after a 3 second gap...Beauty...

  I fond out one more keeravani of IR "Oru kunguma chengamalam" in film aaradhanai....

  I don't think, the above song is of keeravani, coz the song doesn't have a "ni" in avarohanam.

  saw Kaasi. Brilliant! Acting and music - simply world class!
  
  The film throws dung on the faces of all those who had criticised Raaja's music for disappointing.
  
  I would like to see anybody else, for all their chest beating to even try and match this man let alone beat him in the field of film music. The Kaasi bgm shows why Raaja stands all alone.
  
  A must see for all Raaja fans - we must actually go for 'Kaasi' twice-once to see it and once to hear it!

  hi folks...
  I saw the movie Kaasi yesterday...man wooooow...what a film...man it is a wonderfull movie...man the songs are so apt to the movie...I loved the film...on the title there stood "Shiyan" Vikram...man what a performance by the two heroes...Vikram and IR...what a man IR is...he is just doing justice in that movie...surely a hit...

  Guys,
  
  I was on leave and today came back ...
  
  I watched Kaasi in a good theatre with fine audio settings and believe me - the movie is just wonderful !
  It gets a bit 'thoyvu' after idaiveLai, But overall its very well made and Vikram has done exceptionally well, I haven't seen Anybody trying so hard for a character .... I liked the powerful dialogues too (GokulaKrishna), Somehow I feel Vinayan could have made the movie still better - I donno how much he compromised for tamil when compared to the original malayalam version ...
  Song picturisations are very good, I now feel HariHaran fits the album (and Vikram's paavamaana face) very well ! Lyrics are very opt to the situation ! The only problem I felt is that the director used four of the six songs within the first 45 minutes of the movie and thus the second half bacame very dry !
  As usual IR's BGM moves well with the movie, But somehow I am disappointed because after coming out, I don't remember even a single kaatchi where IR's BGM made the scene more enjoyable ... To be frank, May be I didn't feel the BGM at all as a separate entity ... was it my fault ? I don't know .... :-?
  
  But I was very happy to hear the claps and shouts whenever a song starts - they say Kaasi songs are big HIT in TN .... looks like its true !!
  
  One Final Note - Don't think Vikram is the Hero of the movie - He is just an important character and thats it ! The movie has a wonderful story, unexpected (and logical) climax and very good performance of Kavya Madhavan and Kaveri - Later deserves an award more than vikram IMO,
