AP is yet another masterpiece from Rehman(quite)
Although i don't understand tamil,its Rehman's music which has forced me to be an avid watcher and listner of Tamil music and to the extent that i buy nearly all of Rehmans Tamil albums and Hindi too.
He is the Gratest we have in India . He is the Revolutioniser.

James Horner was accused of copying in Titanic. I dont remember from whom he copied from. But I remember reading this is in a respected audiophile magazine, which reviewed the original artiste's album.

Rediff says that KKKK's release was delayed due to delay in re-recording by ARR... and rediff's sources say that Mani Ratnam asked ARR to go slow on re-roecirding as he was informed that KKKK's songs were better picturised that AP songs and this might hit AP's collections... Now KKKK is likley to be released on 28th.

and rediff also says that Vallarasu, a movie starring Vijayakanth, a remake of a Hindi movie at that, has started with a bang ....
But wait there's more: Vijaykanth, who over the last year or two, has had a great run at the box office.

It looks like ARR is giving a run around for KKKK.
Dhanu is paying lot of money in interest due to the delay in releasing the movie. ARR also made Dhanu to wait for hours and irritated him. Way to go ARR.

This is from a real old issue of Kungumam (the guys at Num TV have not bothered to update)

This whole issue has been brought up (and made into a magazine cover story) under a false premise.
Someone by the (pseudo?)name ARRahman apparently asked this question in a Rediff.com chat with Kamal:
"IR's BGM in HeyRam is good. But was it all a leftover of LSub's score?"

To which Kamal apparently responded thus:
"What did you do to Peter Gabriel's 'Passion'?
It's surprising that YOU are asking this question in spite of that!"

The writer of this article in Kungumam has taken this up as an introduction and has tried to give more info. on the album 'Passion'. Well, it's a definite case of hyping a non-issue as a Cover Story to make some fast bucks!!!

karnatak music or carnatic music....which is correct!...secondly the writer needs to check with the director, he might have asked classical based tunes. who knows, we cannot say why did was done with pure classical based scores, till the movie comes out.
In the title song, kandukonden, each saranam has different set of bass notes, who cares....

KKKK song is a very pleasant song.
It somehow sounded very Raja'ish to me.
Silences, string sections, call-responses,
reminded me Raja's style.

not only KKKK,a few of other ARR songs in recent times which reminded of IR were:
Dhandiya attam from Kadhalar dhinam
Kadhal enum thervezhudhi-same
velli malare and kadhal kadidham theetave megham from Jodi.
I dont know what features of these songs were IRish-whether the style or using SPB and other singers used ByIR?

Prakash,
Atleast the first two songs you mention have long melodies (for ARR :)). Since this is not his usual style you probably think it is IR. Yeah, romba izuththA IR style, short, shorta irundha ARR ..this is a common perception, I think.

Why do lyric writers have to use such 'pseudo'names? I can understand Bharati Dasan claiming to be Bharati's Dasan, but Ilaya Kamban is like telling us that he IS indeed a Kamban!
Why can't they just stick to their original names?

Anyway, I do hope this coming together of ARR and such newcomers will help ARR come out of VM's monopoly, albeit temporarily. The reason being, I think a patch-up will soon be brought about, with VM and his family proclaiming their love and respect for the IsaypPuyal in a public function with Karunanidhiu as the chief guest!!! And the Junior Vikatans and Kungumams will have yet another Cover Story.

Let's wait and watch!

You are in a way right. I listened to Khaled's tracks. the first track "adieu" has great similarities with "hamma hamma" and the second one "chebba" with "hE shabba shabba" especially in the way the instruments are used.

but they donto seem to qualify as copies. The second one comes close though..
