  Are Yaar,
  Ramana is a failure ?. That's the biggest joke of the year. Ramana is a megahit and still shows up on Super 10 (Sun TV).
  I think you are mistaken about Villain, Bhagavathy too. Both these films are decent hits if not mega hits. On the contrary, Baba failed to meet expectations. May be it broke even. But compared to these films it did not do well.

  Juile ganapathy's music is superb. IR has shown his class of using western harmonies again with excellent bgm bits for the interludes in the songs. I don't think any MD can even theorize of such compositions and even if, dare to implement them. There is no beating a genius, aka. IR. I strongly suggest the songs to any music lover, not just IR fans.

  I don't know about the first song. But between other two, I don't see any resemblence.
  
  I found a song in Muthu (Enadhu Raajangahm ithuthane or something Old Rajini acts for this in the movie)has a strong resemblance with Ullathil Nalla Ullam(mainly in Pallavi)

  vardhini, i am happy that u have decided to watch JG just for IR's BGM...that is one sure thing that is worthwhile in the movie...and of course brilliant camera work/lighting' work, as u always expected from a BM movie...

  Ilaiyaraja, the re-recording wizard, does it again. Music, interspersed with sensible, eerie silence, has a major role in maintaining the tempo. Of course the pleasing camera work and P. Krishnamurthy's art are the other highpoints.

  where did you get the news that it is based on Misery? I took a wild guess after reading the two articles in Webulagam. If it is true, then one can expect Balu Mahendran to do a good job in his own unique dark style. He seems to have chosen an exotic location in karnataka, and using rain as backdrop. IR should have enough to do in BGM in this psycho thriller though 'silence' will play a major role. But why songs?
  
  Well all this is assuming that the movie is adapted from 'Misery'. I wish it is so!!

  I am skeptical about this 'uthiratha pookkal'.
  
  A few years back Mahendran started another movie, 'Saasanam', with much fan fair and IR doing music.
  
  Later, he announced, IR had been dropped because of his high price. Eventually, the movie itself was dropped.
  
  I hope that doesn't happen to UP as well.
