Do we need to keep listening to a song to like it ?-I Have A Problem Here

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

Recently i bought two tamil film music albums.
Usually u like the songs immediatly or in one or two listenings.

OR

As A.R.Rahmans fans would say that u should keep on listening and u wil begin to like the songs and understand the musical intricasies in it.i have also felt the same for many music albums.

BUT

I tried all these methods with those albums i bought.I listened it in the morning. I listened it in the afternoon. I listened it in the evening.I listened it in the night.I almost lived with them. but still i could not get them inside my mind or heart.

The question is what u do with these kind of albums?

The unfortunate albums are..
1.Azhagi
2.Kasi

CAN ANYONE HELP ?

P.S.
If anyone want those album i will gladly send it free of cost.
I feel this is the only way out.But anybody willing to bear the toture?
kindly let me know.

  It was very interesting to hear that you witnessed the Ilayaraja honoring ceremony on TV. I was flown from London to Madras specially for it. It was an incredible experience and I shall never forget it. Ilayaraja and I became very close friends and I have tried to encourage him to get his symphony released. I believe he was hurt by a critics review, and this is the reason it has not been released. I had the privilege of conducting the recording sessions with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, in London, and we all believe it deserves to be released. The trouble is that critics are capable of destroying sensitive artists and have done it throughout the history of music. The more one knows a piece of music the more one loves it, and the stupid critics are incapable of judging anything they have never heard before. They have seldom been right. There is a wonderful book by Nicolas Slonimsky entitled LEXICON OF MUSICAL INVECTIVE. It is a history of musical criticism since Beethoven's time. It shows how the critics have crucified every great composer without exception! I will contact Illayaraja and tell him about your kind remarks and that he owes it to us all to make his symphony available.

  Thanks for posting his message. I read it longtime back. Though I didn't remember the exact phrasing, that is the message I conceived. ...."IR's symphony is not upto western classical standards"... John Scott didn't say it and I think the way I put it was wrong.

  I have been recently listening to the compositions for the full scale symphony orchestra-amazing.having listened , I am sure IR would have done full justice to the symphony.there was a thread sometime back where venky has uploaded some old IR articles on the net-one mentions IR's forays in learning WCM and that he passed 10 grades in ....2 years! and that too with a gold medal from trinity college-so here is a man who knows the grammar of wcm and symphony-I am sure he would have stuck to the proper structure and this would not be some sort of fusion work.

  reg. symphony no one knows the real reason behind it. what do you expect from us? go to war with windmills?
  
  reg. the second point, many westerners have praised ir and a list was given by an ir fan some time ago.
  
  i want to know what arr has achieved that deserve such praises from the world. musicwise, he has accomplised only 10% of what ir has done.

  mahabs, i never tarnished ir in any way, and i don't think i am smart enuf to, either. I've said repeatedly tat i like ir music too, only i prefer arr music. I have in another thread pointed out my reasons for tat.
  What i accused u, was not of making retorts, but of making personal attacks in ur posts. Not many posts in this forums have real info or meanings in them. Most r personal opinions which don't give much info and i never had such high expectations from u. But the least u could do is not to make personal attack such as those against no jalra.
  I never heard anything abt the symphony after a while and thought tht maybe there were new developments. If there was no new news, someone could have said as much, like fliflo eventually did.

  mahabs, i never thought my postings contain highly informative point, and never said anything to suggest that it did, where on earth did u get the idea from?
  i don't know wat u mean by my 'points' targeting ir fans. I have discussed about kamal, 70's & 80's songs, arr's music having religious infusions in them, HJ, Deva, copying, SPB, other singers and countless other topics, usually giving personal opinions. So don't make it sound like all i do sit around obsessing over ir.
  My only point to u is not to make personal attacks like those against no jalra when he never particularly said anything nasty to u.
