Ineresting Incidents

A place to discuss any interesting incidents that happened in TFM arena.

For example...

When Ilayaraja was recording his first song 'Machanai Paartheengala' for Annakili, suddenly there was a power cut which basically erased all his recordings.

Then somebody made a sarcastic comment that, 'Indha allu (ie IR) avvalavu dhaan. Aarambamey power cut...'

Despite of that IR became a leading MD and is a Maestro now. Like that any incidents...?

  Well, I heared this one from my friend, who said that he saw video where IR narrated how he composed songs for Nayagan.
  
  You all will remember the song 'Nila Adhu Vaanathu Meley' in Nayagan. It is a jolly song sung by IR to suit to Janagaraj and that particular scene.
  
  You also will remember the wonderful 'soaga' melody 'Thenpaandi Seemaiyiley' from that same film.
  
  In that video IR told that, originally he composed the Nila Adhu's tune for the 'Thenpaandi Seemaiyile' situation.
  
  The audiences were confused as how could Nila Adhu's tune would fit into that 'soaga' situation. Then IR sung the Nila Adhu's tune very melodiously. And he replaced the 'hoiya hoi' with 'Aaraaro'.
  
  Everyone was amazed about how he could make a tune to fit from melody to jolly kind.

  There is an interesting incident between MSV and Vaali.MSV said he had composed a tune and if he can come up with the lyrics as and when MSV tells the sandham then he can have his Gold chain with a bid dollar in it(of some god..)which MSV was wearing at that time.(some thing like that song in varumayin niram sivappu).So vaali accepted the challenge and came up with the lyrics instantly and won the prize.
  The song is "Naan Kaatru vanga ponen oru...."

  GA who was near IR Ran to Vaali & hugged & lifted him up

  Muktha Wanted Vaali to Write in Madras Slang

  but Muktha Convinced him
  and finally Vaali Came up with "Vaa Vathyare Ootanda"

  i dont know which function ur mentioning.the one i am talking about was held in music acadamy kalainger was chief guest.
  
  two intresting things happened there.
  
  everyone gave gifts to SPB, seeing this kamal said,'SPBkku nan gift edhvum konduvaravillai aanal idhuvarai nan yarukkum kodukkatha gift onrai avarukku tharap pogiren' and fell at SPB's feet.
  
  another one is,
  though kangaiamaran's 'pooncholai'audio was already released he wanted to release it by kalainger's hands.so all of a sudden he announced,'idhu nikalchiyil illai irunthalum kalainger kobithu kollakoodathu. en magan hero vaga nadithulla intha padathin cassettei ippothu kalainger avargal release seivargal'.he just pushed some cassetes into kalainger's hands.with no other alternative kalainger held the cassettes.

  no jalra: That is the same function, the procedings of which were released as 'enadhu isaip payaNam' a 2 part CD. Did you attend the function? Definitely in the CD (accolades) Ilayaraja's name is not there. Plus SPB and GA's conversation indirectly suggests that IR was not present there.

  I have that 2 set Cd. Yes Ir was not mentioned, But SPB did talk fondly of him and it looks like the three of them IR, GA and SPB had many good times together...and are good pals, I dont think you can make much of IR not being there...
  
  But they should sit down and write a book..Would be many many good stories

  sorry guys i dont know about the cds. but i was present at the function and saw IR reading out a long speach. where he spoke about how he and spb used to freak out in the earlier days.
  very striking thing is the speach was in 'vada poda' style.'nan velila vanthutenda. nee eppo velila varap pora'asked raaja indirectly meaning spb's drinking habits.

  I think Raaja never had any drinking habbit. However there were some photos of young Raaja (may be in his mid-twenties) wearing modern dress. I do not know whether he had that habbit during those days.
  
  By the way, who is the MD for Shankarabaranam? Is it KVM?
