  Back to the thread... I bought En Swaasa Kaatre
  CD because, if you buy it for Sing $14 they give
  one extra CD (Hits of ARR) free. It was worth the
  buy. My kids have got hooked to ESK songs,
  particularly chillallavaa. indha Niagara

  So did you like ESK? Musical wise, I would say ARR tried a lot on that, but then we have ripped that album to pieces in this forum and I think everyone is just resting right now, till the next release of ARR.:-))
  
  I am not a Kutraalam. My actual name is Sanskrit but I wanted something tamil and unique and feminine and my cousin's name is Aruvi, so I got hooked to the name.
  
  I think your children will like Kaadhalar Thinam too.

  ARR is a reasonably good musician and I am content to leave it at that.

  Aruvi/Sanskrit - Luckily you said I am absorbed and not obsessed. Although my preference is for SPB & SJ, I can enjoy good songs by anyone.
  As far as KT is concerned, I feel a little cheated about the copying bit. But otherwise it is okay I guess.
  But give me Deva or SAR anytime. :-))

  wait, don't stock up vcds because of poor quality. Few Tamil DVDs are out, which offer much more high quality than VCDs. Sooner or later, more DVD Titles will be available. so wait.

  Guys,
  Saw the movie Padayappa yesterday. An atrocious movie, equally atrocious was the BGM. Even Deva would've done some fair amount of justice. A couple of songs are OK. Why doesn't ARR give good music for these kinds of movies?
  I mean, can he compose music for a SarathKumar or a Vijayakanth movie? Even if he does, he won't show full enthu.
  
  KD is just fanatastic. I think he goes by the banner and the director, and some kind of a non-tamilian touch. All IMHO.

  NN (Nerukku Ner?) - Thanks for your advice. My VCD's seem to be of good quality (or maybe not - ignorance is bliss here!)
  I just invested a small fortune (for me) on a sound system with VCD player and it is not likely that I will be getting a DVD players as well. :-))
  
  Vimal - The BGM for Padaiyappa was indeed done by Deva's brothers Sabesh-Murali.
  
  BTW, am I the only one here who thinks that Padaiyappa songs are enjoyable? :-))

  A new music director has arrived in the horizon
  his name is Ismail Haiderand the film is HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM .The quality is to good and now we have 3 good misic directors ARR, Vishal and IH.
  Good for ARR now we can get even more good music from ARR.TAAL has to be too good to bear HDDCS

  VCD Player? I don't know that. Usually there are only DVD players and Most of them is compatible with VCDs. VCDs are just another variations of VHS tape, which does not offer wide screen. However, DVDs offer wide screen format with 500 resolution lines which is about the same as SDTV. I've seen some Hindi titles with DD. It should be impressive. mmm, Tamil, perhaps we're behind the 10 years of technology.

  how many times did u listen to KD?
  it is really good. very soft songs. listen to 'enna vilay azhage' the flow is amazing and not flat as u mentioned. the mallu accented tamil of one of the singers sticks out like a sore thumb, but hey, this is the best part of india!

  I did listen to KD 4 or 5 times, and none of the songs made an impact. dAndiyA irritated me endlessly and rOja rOja sounded just OK. The same applies to enna vilai azhagE. [Actually, I do not mind mallu singers]. IMO, ARR's melodies pack an extra dimension of softness that is sorely missing in this album. I liked maria [the only signature song of ARR in this album?] for its thumping merriness and zany [read stupid] lyrics:-)

  i agree with what gokul is saying.
  but personally i feel that Enna Vilai , Kathal Ennum , Roja-Roja are the potential hit.
  looks like ARR gives importance to melody nowadays.no more Bang-Bung and Dam-Dum like he used to be.anyway IMO, KD is not in the same par with Roja,Bombay,Indian or even Kathal Desam.
  
  p/s*.KD director, Kathir prefer to use Vaali rather than VM.previously he used Vaali too.From Ithayam,Uzhlavan,Kathal Desam and now KD he stay with Vaali.Only changes ,no more IR , jump to ARR.

  KD all songs is a first of its kind like Minsara Kanavu and it is a singers delight. It is the second, after Minsara Kanavau, international sounding songs from an Indian MD. The first time that interludes for all the songs were brilliant from ARR. I am afraid we are seeing a totally new rahman from now on. His songs are more or less like ballads and have an explosive tone about it. The singers can sing full throated without swallowing their own voice. I think this album is indeed revolutionary. I am yet to see IR composing songs for the singers in this fashion. Dhandiya song was brilliant but too long and seemed like the song could continue without being repetitive. It is amazing.
