SPB vs Kishore kumar

Hi folks,
many people beleive SPB is very great and so is Kishore kumar .
should SPB be called south indian kishore kumar or should kishore kumar be called north indian SPB !!....who is great among these two and why ??

  Other thing Dr.BMK is better than Dr.KJY in Carnatic, in my opinion!

  Hari has a point. Accept it. Do not bring others in to it. I do not think BMK as a playback singer (yes BMK did some playback singing, nothing comparable to KJY)

  If this opinion is based on the knowledge in Carnatic music, I truly agree with you. Dr.BMK has spent the span of his life to classical music and his contribution to playback singing is relatively less. KJY, instead has sung more than 20000 film songs (I don't know the exact number) apart from actively participating in Kutcheris. ALSO, singing is deeply involved with the ALPANA STYLE and VOICE in which I prefer KJY much over BMK. Many ignorants of classical music started listening to it just to enjoy his VOICE and ALAPANA!
  
  Another point which I missed to emphasize in the previous posting,
  
  Dr.SPB was never able to make an impact with his MALYAYALM songs in Kerala as Dr.KJY made in Tamilnadu with his Tamil songs. I really don't know why!!! - I feel this is the VOICE factor.

  I shall write in full details on Friday, regarding Dr.KJY's Limitations Over Dr.SPB.
  
  Dr.KJY was never able to make an impact with his TELUGU/KANADAHINDI songs as Dr.KJY made in Tamilnadu with his Tamil songs. I really don't know why!!! - I feel this is the VOICE factor. :)
  
  PJ has a similar voice to KJY, PJ was far more versatile than Dr.KJY, how come he never came up as an excellent singer?, I hear, that Dr.KJY did not let any one overtake him?, I don't know if this is true or not!

  Certainly, Dr.KJY has given some hits in Telugu/Kannada (Also got national award) but may not have made an impact like that in Tamil. But in Hindi, Dr.KJY was around for nearly 10 years and has sung innumerous class songs which are unimitable. In music competitions (Sa Re Ga Ma) I have seen contestants afraid of taking up KJY's songs.

  Okay, I feel that you have listened to KJY's songs in 70s and mid 80s. Even in that period, the voices sounded different. The bass in KJY's voice increased tremendously afterwards. Listen to his late 80s and 90s songs and compare the voices.
  
  Jeyachandran used to get good chances in MALLU films along with KJY in 70s and mid 80s. KJY hasn't prevented anyone, its because no one could overtake (no, MATCH) him!. The culprit for spoiling his chances is M G Sreekumar, who with a voice souding like Mohanlal, destroyed the careers of Venugopal, Unnimenon etc. and they had to resort to Tamil.
