Maestro goes global!
By Moviebuzz
Sunday, 17 October , 2004, 11:27
The maestro Ilayaraja has decided to go global. He will be performing live for the first time on stage with his 115 strong orchestra in Dubai on December 2 and Abu Dhabi on 3rd.
Ilayaraja had all these years refused to perform on stage but has finally succumbed to changing times. Says Ilayaraja: “So far I did not want to perform on stage as I thought of using that time to compose music for one more film.” He also added that he has agreed to do the show, as a part of the profit will be going to the charities.
Raj of Dream Makers, Dubai is making all arrangements as the show would also mark the Golden jubilee of South Indian Artists Association in Dubai on Dec 2. Later Raj also plans to conduct Ilayaraja musical nights in Singapore, Malaysia and London.

Everybody is talking about all kinds of things, except the main thing - which is IR will be taking 100 musicians with him on these tours !!!! It would be a great opportunity for IR fans or otherwise to listen to his songs in all their glory. Most of the time many songs get ignored because the recordings sound exactly like an 'old song'. I was surprised to hear so many instruments/nuances in MSV's songs when played live by an orchestra. Similarly, these concerts would be a musical as well as sonic treat with so many instruments being played. And I dont think we will be seeing any lip-synching or singing to track CDs.

With the kind of expenses involved in travel / accommodation / salaries etc. for such a big troop plus other expenses like auditorium rent etc., I'm not sure what size of crowd or what ticket rates the organizer are planning...to cover all expenses and also to make a decent contribution to the charities...

Guys
stop your petty fights
Nobody is talking about where these concerts are going to be. One would be in Newyork/NewJersey area. Where else? Any Idea?

Maestro’s Global performance for a cause
For the first time maestro Illayaraja has been roped to do live shows in India and abroad with his orchestra, thanks to Raj, CEO, Dream Makers, an event management company based at Dubai. This was announced by Illayaraja and Raj at a recent press conference in Chennai.
While addressing the press the maestro said that so far he never wanted to do any live shows since it took a lot of time and away from his work. “I always felt instead I can utilize this time to compose more songs. But when Raj explained me about the entire show and the noble cause involved in it I was impressed and I agreed to do these shows. I am also eager to meet my fans all over world”. “A portion of proceeds will go towards good cause to home for the aged, mentally and physically retarded and to orphanages”, said Raj. The show is to be conducted in Chennai, Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, USA and UK mostly in places where Tamil speaking population concentrated. A total of 100 musicians which includes leading singers will take part in these shows.
Incidentally Dream Makers are also organizing the show by South Indian Artistes Assoacaition to mark their Golden Jubilee celebrations which is going to be held in Dubai on December 2nd and December 3rd in Abu Dhabi.

Paran,
You are correct. IR is not all that busy that is why he accepted this offer.
He always says that instead of spending time on practicing and doing his old music, he can concentrate and give new songs.
Apart from TIS and few movies, he is not having anything off late.

Paran,
Ofcourse the second reason is good cause behind it.
I am expecting real good stuff from him on TIS. Let us see.

Hello fans:
It was nice to announce that raja is going to conduct musical concerts all over world. but the way he talked with press was absolutely idiotic. people might say, he dont like press, but doesnt he talking with the people through them???? iam a hard core fan of raja, but when many of my freinds say that he was too self-centered, i c'dnt tolerate but to be frank, for a normal person, the interview do sound like that. kindly post your comments. iam not against IR but belive i was so depressed since yestreday. why is he doing this way. either he dont meet people and if he does he scre*ws up. athuuvum he is more than 60 years now

I cant' agree more with you "depressed".Me too saw the news on how IR respond to the press people.I'm a hardcore fan of Raja, wondering if could meet him to say a "helo" and compliment, just like any other great fan would do.But after reading that news, wondering if itwould be "practical" to do that with IR's poor PR skills......He should learn some good PR.makkal sevai magesan sevai, similarly he should be little more people orientated, as music involve the soul of people and not any 'other'!If no people appreciate his music, who is he today???
