why people hate illaiyaraaja-an example

  i don't think AVR was serious abt his career as a singer for TFM. Otherwise, i'm sure he wld have sung at least under other MDs. May not be intentional but was probably more complacent in his approach without putting in the required efforts...u know it happens...we feel like preparing for the exams well in advance but till the very last few days just don't start the preparations!!:-)

  The famous musician T.V.Gopalakrishnan, is the Guru of Isaignani Ilayaraja and A. R. Rehman. He was a great innovator in music. He is very much worried about his two disciples.
  
  First, its about Ilayaraja. Raja respects him and has helped him a lot, but he has used him only in a very few songs like “Anthimazhai…” in Rajapaarvai. He is very much upset about this and also he was not properly treated in Karthick Raja’s marriage it seems.
  
  About Rehman, he had learnt all the nuances of music from this Guru, including Jazz. But the guru feels a lot, telling to everyone he sees, that he has never been given a good chance by Rehman.

  Guru: This article is old and has already been 'beaten to death'. There is no purpose is rekindling this article and slammimg IR and TMS again.
  
  If we are genuine music lovers,we should reflect on the numerous positive moments these great artists have given us, instead of dwelling on their comments from the times when they are down and frustrated.
  
  But since you have made the reference to TMS, I want to add this. TMS may not be the greatest playback singer ever to walk in Kodambaakkaam. But, I sincerely feel that Thamizhnadu hasnot recognized adequately his contributions to TFM. When twopenny actors, MDs, are touting titles like thEnisai thendral, puratchi kalaignar, I am saddened that TMS has not even received a state level recognition. No! Not because he was the voice of MGR and Sivaji, though that is a very good reason. But atleast for creating nostalgia in the minds of atleast 2 generation of thamizhars.

  IR is known to dismiss/disrespect peers, juniors and elders in the industry - the way he handled KB/Bharathi Raja/Vairamuthu/ManiRatnam/Rajni etc. are some examples.
  IR does not have people handling skills and because of this he gets into quite a few problems.
  IR should hire a good PR (maybe its too late now) and make them handle people and he can concentrate on making music.
  
  But whatever it is - IR's standards and number of songs recorded were very high during the 80's and AVR's could not have had a chance when SPB/KJ/Malaysia were at their peak.
  AVR must have realised it also.

  Thanks a lot for reading my article and discussions.I humbly submit that I am a very simple person with simple desires ,not arrogant,do not jollu on anything & do not have anything against Ilayaraja.The mention about Ilayaraja from me is only the narration of some incident that took place between a yearning singer and an MD.I have known Ilayaraja since the day he landed in Madras and we have lot of respect for each other.This is just to eliminate any misconceptions that I might have triggered in any die-hard fans of IR of whom I'm also one.

  so I will answer. I have been to saptha swarangal show because 1 of my close friend participated. You mentioned to my friend something on TV regarding "respect towards elders" . The person was nervous stepping onto the mike in front of a million viewers . You may have only tried to advise him but in effect my friend did feel insulted and ashamed that it appeared as if you were admonishing the particpant in front of a TV crowd. Many times I watched the recording of the show. I agree with the point you were trying to make but I believe it could have been handled more sensitively. Since such TV moments are rare for a common person like my friend and such incidents tend to have a psycological scar for a long time.
  
  I dont NOT want to elaborate on this any further or wish to name the participant. I do NOT want continue the dicussion in this direction. But I was waiting for a long time to tell you about this if I ever meet you. Now I have the chance I am giving you this feed back to handle audience maturely and NOT expose their lack of courtesies or lack of knowledge in public. but sort of keep it offline.
