Sometimes we like songs because of good music, sometimes because of good lyrics and sometimes because of both good music and lyrics. I would like to have one discussion group in which requests for such songs can be made. If available webmasters can upload them to their site. So, I would like to invite you to participate in bringing out such nice songs to the web.

The above song is from 'Panam Pagai Pasam'; The Music may be by SG as Ramki Says; however I vaguely remember the MD as some Telugu MD (Like Satyam, Ramesh naidu...)

The above song used to be played frequently in Ceylone Radio. Panam Penn Pasam came A little later and had SG as MD and M.A.Kaja as the DIrector

nn 'panam penn paasam'(Muthuraman,Saritha and Vadivukarasi) has an excellent song 'laxmi vandhaal maharaaani pol ennai parkkavae nannaLile'(SPB,SPS)

nn do you have songs from 'kanneer pookkaL'(Vijayan, Sripriya). There is one SJ solo and an SPB solo(a very sad song). I dont remember the first lines but they were nice songs by SG.

I have only one song from "malligai Mohini". It's Kaathal oru koil poley Theivangal Penkal.... I should say that SJ and SPB have done a wonderful job, but it's toooooooooo long!
It runs about 8 mins!!!

Has anyone heard the wonderful song "marakka mudiyavillai" from the film "vaanamE ellai". It's a beautiful melodious song rendered by the great SPB and Chithra. Whoever said that songs of 90's have no thathuvams should listen to this song. It talks of all the joys and sadnesses that these two remember in their lifes. I think the song has a hindustani feel in the beginning because Chithra keeps singing 'marakamudiyavillai' the way that ghazal singers do. She describes how music came to her and how the lost of her mother has affected her emotionally. Then Balu enters and sings the things he can't forget in his life. I love the line that he sings that goes like this 'muthal muthalaiye vaitha meesai marakka mudiyavillai, en mukham tholaindhu pOna naalai marakka mudiyavillai.' Then in the next stanze they both sing one line after another and then finally end by singing 'marakamudiyavillai' together. The best part about this song is that everyone can relate to this song in one way or another.

That song Marakkamudiyavillai is NOT from Vaaname Ellai.....but that is from the movie JAATHIMALLI. Directed by K.Balachander and starred by Kushbu and Mukesh. Music is by Maragathamani and lyrics by Vairamuthu.

Thenisai Thendral Deva's song, "Nalam Nalamariya Aaval", from Kaadhal Kottai is a wonderful melodious song that would have touched everyone.
