IR's new albums!

  I avidly look forward to Julie Ganapathy's audio release.
  
  Whether or not songs in Ivan, EMV, Ramanaa, SMK, Azhagi, Kasi, etc. are good is a matter of personal tastes. I quite like the songs in SMK. En Mana Vaanil has some real good songs like 'Enna Solli' and 'Rottora Paattuchatti'. Ramanaa is a mixed bag; there is one total junk song I picked out, that goes like 'Angey Yaaru Paaru', but I quite like the folkish touches of 'Alli Mudhichaa'. Kasi-- I think all the songs are good; I especially like 'Aathorathile' and 'Naan Kanda'. Ivan-- take out the carnatic content and the album stinks IMHO; too inconsistent if you ask me!
  
  How come you guys fail to make references to IR's recent KANNADA albums, why only MALLU? IMO, Usire and Boomi Geetha, two releases in Kannada in the past 6 or so years, had some haunting numbers, such as 'Aa Devarilli Maadhuvaa', 'Bhoodyaaviyaa Habba Habba', 'Muthu Halo Maathidu', etc. But to be fair, Malayalam IR albums in recent times have great songs, esp. 'Thanga...' from Friends and 'Shiva Karuda' from KKS. Something to think about. ;-)

  Yesterday i've seen devarmagan..There was a BGM when kamal went to meet his brother in the lodge..and also in some of the scenes of climax he has used the same BGM of sedhu(DM music-a sedhu-la pottu irukkar)...
  
  I think IR has used the same BGM for one more film i've seen in the TV..i think its ramana..i cant able to remember it..but this sound comes so repetitive in IR's BGM..
  
  like that in SMK also , he has used one more BGM of sedhu..

  IMHO
  
  'vaana ville' is very melodious though it resembles 'thathithom' from Azaghan especially the key board interlude and ofcourse the same raaga madhuvanthi.
  
  Still it is a very haunting tune.
  
  SS pronunciation has improved vastly.

  A bit of Lajja BGM comes (if I remember it right, its the title music of Lajja) comes in the end of the movie RAMANA (when Vijayakanth (from prison) comes to see his adopted kids when they are asleep).

  Folks,
  
  SMK songs have some very good lyrics ( IR ) especially the song Gundu Malli and Panam mattum ..has only thamil words in all the songs.
  (No ice cream silaye , email etc :-) )
  
  Though Gundu Malli and Etho sound fabulous, I could see the complexity in the tune to sing along ..in spite of repeated listenings. could be a reason why SMK songs are not as popular (?) as Azhagi songs were.
  
  Shreya is indeed a good find.. I find her voice very refreshing.. and so is Pradhaban in Kaatula.
  
  IMHO, my Ivann + SMK CD is a treasure for me.. have been listening to it multiple times now..

  In today's SOTD, a song from the obscure [unreleased?] 1982 film 'Kavitha Malar' was featured as some of you know, i.e., 'Alaigale Vaa' sung by SPB and Jency(?) A lovely and very different number, I guess you could call it operatic. I wonder if this was Raja's first straight Western Classical song, rather than 'Chandrigaarum Sooriyanum' in Avatharam.
  Guys, listen to it if you can! As I was listening, I was reminded of the more recent 'Ulagile Athisayam' from Bharathan's Kanmani Oru Kavithai.

  Also today I also listened to the recently installed songs of IR's 1992 film Rickshaw Maamaa at thaalam.com. There are some very beautiful numbers, especially 'Vaigai Nadhiyoram.' Pl. listen if you have the chance and do not already own the soundtrack.

  Alaigale vaa is an early attempy by Isaignani to do an opera style composition I guess. Amazing song it is.....listen to it guys...I am sure you all will enjoy it. Uma ramanan piece has some great guitar pieces

  Did any one see the trailer of "Kamaraj"? The BGM that comes in the trailer is mind-blowing. I'm eagerly awaiting its release (Jan. 26th) for two reasons - one because it is a movie about the great Kamaraj and another because the music is composed by the maestro.
