Shankar,
For the everlasting talent of IR, the current testimony is KC. Please listen to "Paadith thirintha" or "oor ooraa pogum.." It will prove your opinion wrong. And then you have "Thendralai kandu kolla " from Nilavae Mugam Kaattu. Only thing is unfortunately, these albums get unnoticed or widely ignored. Probably because of the banner, star-value or HYPE.

shankar: yeah, "paadith thirindha" from kaakkaich chiRaginilE [listen to the version sung by IR] is certainly a soul touching number. Dont miss it!
There are quite a few numbers which really went unnoticed :( Quotable gems were:
a) katha pOla thONum athu kathaiyum illa [kizhakkum mEkkum]
b) aala maraththu kuyilE kuyilE [aNNan]
c) chittup paRakkathu kuththaalaththil [nilavE mugam kaattu]

kadhapOla thONum is a great number .The movie is NOT kizhakkum mErkkum..it's the title song of a muraLi movie...

MUGAM was released couple of months back. Raja has done great BGM for the movie. Check my site

Hello Friends:
I heard Sethu songs and that wasn't bad at all as mentioned by people.People shouldn't ever compare Maestro's early years to his latest. If you compare then you would be surely disappointed because no one and not even our Isai gnani would ever be able to do songs of late 70's and early 80's.Anyhow it Sethu is surely better than albums like Taj mahal or Shakalaka baby of Mudhalvan.
Sekar.

Hi S.,
It is manga., not 'mAnga'., :-))))
BTW, Read somewhere(Dinakaran ?) that 'Karisak kaattup poovee., ' has 2 songs sung by Pushpavanam kuppusamy and his wife Anitha Kuppusamy. ThankGod., IR is out of that 'Arunmozhi - Swarnalatha' maze for themmaangu songs., :-) eventhough they sound good sometimes., Listening to 6 or 7 songs with the same pair is simply impossible. :-))

I think 'kummi paattu' was released.
I remember hearing about it's release in Toronto, Canada.
Never heard of 'eerakaaththu'.
If the songs come out to be anywhere near 'veera thaalaattu', I will be content.
Another one that boasts IR as MD is 'Kuru Thanapaalin' 'thirunaal', staring Sathyaraj.
All I know about it is that there is a poster for this movie at Elaine Cinema in Toronto:-)
Has anyone listened to ALL the songs of Sethu? I listened to the two on G. Suresh's site. They are not at all impressive. Hope there's other gems in the album.
Remember, 'niram piriththu paarthaen' was not uploaded in any site until much later......here's hoping:-)
....later

Shankar : Almost all of us feel the same way. I see in other way around. Basically
those songs have mixed up in our mind along with emotional thoughts and
reflect for ever the various periods of our life.
It's true that IR doesn't come up good as he did before. But even now he is the
king of melodies I guess. thendral vandhu theendum pothu, meetatha
oru veenai, thena odum odai, niram pirithu parthen are recent good examples. But I
doubt if you could feel as you had experienced before. You (we) crossed the
bridge already :-)

Time also is going to make a silent exit. I went to the movie just for Maestro's music . Except for the songs the movie has nothing worthful in it. No proper Screen play , no continuity and no sequence and above all there no story . They show a clock here and there just to remind us that the movie is titled as TIME. Even the B.G.M does not match Maestro's standards.

It may be because of the Director changed everything in the film except IR and the Producer!! :)

Tamilcinema has a review of Time.... nothing to rave about. Poor Raja, another case of reasonably above average (some might even call it good) being wasted on a hopeless, mediocre movie. I guess it is partly his fault too ... should'nt he be asking the director for the movies storyline?
