IR's new albums!

  I cannot verify this, but my gut feeling is that it has nothing to do with caste. If it was about caste I dont think VM and BR would have been so chummy with IR for so long. I think it has everything to do with ego. IR is a genius and does have his quirks. IMO no one else in the Tamil film industry can be called an authentic genius, but that does not mean that they are not talented. People like VM, BR, ManiRatnam, KB etc. are extremely talented, and more important, have been extremely successful in their field. So when they come across someone who they perceive as arrogant, their ego prevents them from working with that person. I am of course sad that IR no longer works with these "giants", and I wish fervently that these guys overcome their egos and make allowances for IR's behavior , but I dont think that will happen.
  
  Caste might be indirectly related to it by way of relatives, who have a big ego just because they are related to the "giants" of the industry but I dont think caste plays a deciding role in these rifts. (I read somewhere that the problem between IR and ManiRatnam was because a relative of IR's was not treated properly during the premiere of Thalapathi)

  BTW I am not saying that IR's behavior towards these guys was bad. I am just saying that even if it was bad, they should be the ones making adjustments..

  The author of the book further goes on to write some of his own comments:

  The author goes on to say that Rahman's success in TFM had a LOT to do with VM's magical lyrics! That the author is a big fan of VM is quite obvious because, in the book, he mentions with some arguments that the break in IR-VM relationship was somewhat due to IR.

  check this out. the glorious VM contradicts himself. emotion choked narration is just to create an effect, isaiosai. his fragile integrity is glaring.

  in an interview in sun tv, about two years ago, i happened to hear VM's comments. the interviewer asked VM the reason for the split. VM becomes very emotional and facing the camera he addresses the public asking why this question is always addressed to him and not to IR. it was comical to see his agitation. in my eyes he seemed to be carrying some guilt. wonder what they are hiding?

  i am not able to remember the name of this interviewer. he used to interview popular personalities and later became the director of Jaya TV i think. i remember VM requesting the interviewer to bring IR to the same program ask him the question.

  just in case u got me wrong...the narration (VR's article) is good. however, nothing much is disclosed and nothing is/was conclusive. The +ve is his expressing +ve regards for IR (which if VM contradicts then does speak of his fragile integrity...and i can understand that...and u:))
  
  i for one believe that there are many others with ego problems but IR is projected to be the only one. more importantly i believe that IR knows his work better than anybody else. Just the way he doesn't interfere in other's work, he doesn't want others to disturbingly interfere in his work. i believe he gives enough freedom to those who deserve it.
  
  what i liked most was Sathiya Keerthi's enthu in translating and posting it for the benefit of dfers.

  don't get me wrong, i did experience my throat choking, when i read the narration, but emotion is then replaced by reason. i then realized that it was not VM's narration, but my experience of those songs which was 'choking' me. i am grateful to sathiya keerthi for bringing to the forum

  The split with Maniratnam was due to GV...Apparently during the re-recording of dhaLapathi, GV had shooed Raja's mom(?) or some of his family members from entering the studio or some such thing had happened...and Raja chose to move out.
  
  Mani himself said he had approached Raja for Iruvar and Raja's Ego didn't allow him to accept it (of course, Raja was the loser here, atleast in terms of a chance to give a good score)
  Fight with VM started during the composition of "hey unnaithAnE" song...that's when VM had complained about Raja's music dominating the lyrics.
