I have always maintained that TFM is most probably the richest form of popular music as it imbibes music from all cultures and traditions. Even rock and pop are seeing this form of experimentation only now in hip-hop.
Thus seeing the very rich discussions in newtfmpage has made me curious about what TFM DFers are listening to at any given moment. I am sure that tastes are always changing and evolving. So please share your current musical experiences here as it will also help each other broaden our listenting interests as well as our tastes in music. Thanks :)

Thanx.
I too heard it from IndiaFM. I liked the two new songs very much.
But, that "Azhagana ratshshiye" song is horrible.
The pallavi of that song was wonderful. It fitted perfectly with the tune. And also, some punjabi words in the pallavi made me think that this is a revolutionary song where punjabi cum hindi lyrics is sung in our own Reethi gowlai raagam. My joy was very short lived as in the charanam, the lyricist tumbled, dashed and met with several accidents. In many places the lyrics ended but the tune continued. It looked very odd. Some of IR's songs like the ones in Dhalapathi, Aboorva sagotharargal and few other, had the similar problem with lyrics. That is why, they did not become a hit there. NI people are very conservative about their language. Lyricist can spoil a good tune there.

I had bought "Kadhal Jathi" cassettes from North Jersy (CD yet to be released) last sunday. This entire week, my drive time listening has been to Kadhal Jathi songs. They are excellent.

Digression :
CF...the adaptation may not be perfect...specially the lyrics with "main kya karoon" and "mundiya" throw it off...anyway Subhash Jha has really ripped the soundtrack apart in his review on Indya. I tin k the same ruckus was made over the "Hindustani" track too. Still "Telephone Dhun" was a hit from what I saw on the MTV countdown though I am sure it'd been new fare for the north indians...let's see what happens with Nayak

Cosmician:
Nayak has cought up with MTV. I see the chale chalo song in the houseful and other section.
I should watch this sunday's 123 count down. Its a really good count down program like what we have in Vijay TV. It's projections are more or less correct IMHO.
I like that saiyaan song very much. I didn't notice Hans raaj hans all these day in various channels. I sounds new and raw to me. Good selection for a rajasthani folk song. I just listened to his "Jhan Jhariya" number in MTV today. It's OK.

Well..it's been two months...and what are the cds and tapes strewn around your sound system ?
This is mine :
1) Aalavandhaan (Side A) (Enjoying and Relishing it !) - Playing the songs for everyone from different age groups - dad likes the "Siri" song a lot ;)...Tanjore guys are proud that it is a Shankar product ! Many are still in awe of the "new sounding" tech ! Title track imapcts !
- Bharathy & Aandaan Adimai (Side B) - Rediscovered "Nirupadu Ver"..my hairs stand and "mayil polla oru ponnu"...cool!
"Ennana Paada.." from AA - touches of old IR !
2) Aatma - Bombay Jayshree & Charsur DWS
3) Sacred Chants of Buddha - Craig Pruess
4) Erasure - Cowboy
5) Space - Zakir Hussain
6) A-Ha - Minor Earth Major Sky
7) Fat Boy Slim - Halfway between the Gutter and the Stars
8)The Best Alternative Album - Features Depeche Mode, Prodigy Super Naturals et al
9) LA Confidential soundtrack - fell in love with the film and Kim Basinger !
Picked these up at a sale just to experiment :
1) BB King Live in Japan - after Ehsaan's recommendation
2) Robert Miles 23am
3) INXS - Elegantly Wasted
4) The Moody Blues - Strange Times - pleasant rock
5)U2 - Pop - well..what to say...I like A-Ha better
6) Soundgarden - Superunknown - Apart from the cool name this band has and the number "Black Hole Sun" that was a hit i think in 92-93...Soundgarden sucks big time !

i just bought ARR after Ehsaan debate, I guess I will stick with IR for the long-term. I've been selling most of the English CDs. For those Rock Guitar fans, try Eric Johnson. He has tried some Hindustani raga type stuff with vocals. Catchin Up with Depeche Mode, i had 2 CDs?! for 8 years, i sold one of the originals yesterday on ebay... got lots of western oldies sps and lps which compilation completed, includes my favorite 'Catch Me if You Can" and so on... Bought a hell lot of south Indian CDs on Indulive's closing sale just two weeks ago..., yes, i am reverting to my usual stuff. ARR is good for a change, I realize.

Sorry KS...as always the words don't register first with me..it is the music and melody...that has always been the case with me...but still it is a beautiful song !

Same with me:) Reg. the song...its great...sounds so innocent...which is less in the world today:)
I wonder how IR cld make it sound so good with minimal of instruments esp. the way tabla joins the 2nd charanam and how well the same suits the pallavi too!!!
