ILLAYARAJA'S EARLY HITS (1978-1984)
an attempt to dig out some golden oldies with the help of the many seasoned campaigners in TFM.Iam interested in doing a collection of songs that are strictly confined to this period which I consider as the renaissanceage of music

  I am getting my this idea of a TFM database of songs !!
  BTW, do you guys already have one ? You guys are too good and I wouldn't be surprised.
  
  If such a database is available we can let enter it thru forms. Then we can search it. We could also reference this with movies by making use of the Internet Movie Database. I dont know how open IMDB is but I think it should be possible.
  
  Note if such a database is available on the Internet and if they have this 'SoundTrack for Movie' field or something we can make use of it. But I doubt it would suit our Indian ways of doing songs.
  
  So I am excited by this idea :-) Do you guys share my enthusiasm ?
  BTW, on what hosts are you guys running the website. I can try to get a free copy of Adaptive Server Anywhere Database from my employers.

  Hey, the imdb itself is good. We can use the 'Soundtracks' attribute for this. Also, searching is not bad - it was able to figure our muthal from mudhal.

  The number of movies is abysmally low in the database. So lets get to work guys and fill up the database.

  Revival CDs are remixes : the orchestration is new supposedly by using original instruments but they use a lot of synthesizers + the original sound track.

  Guys!
  I have gone thru all the pages and could not find `Anandam, Anandam nee thanthadhu' (SJ and chrous), a gem of a song with a great folk interlude. This is from a Mahendran movie, Poottatha Poottukkal. (Review of this movie in Kumudham: Slow, dead slow, PP)

  There is another beautiful no. in Raanitheni which has not found a place so far in this query. It's a melody which talks much about IR's light music / rhythm's talents : `Enna solli Naan Ezhutha' (PS)
  
  The songs `Chinna ponnu sela ' and `Kattu Vazhi pora ponne' from Malayur Mambattiyan need to be included. Marvellous melodies they are!

  I dont know if some of the not so popular songs from Pagalil Or Iravu .
  
  Ponnaram Poovaram by SPB is a great tune, so is Thaam tha Dheem Tha - SJ, the movie had around 6 songs.

  Can you identify which movie this outstanding & classic IR song is from?: I posted earlier in someother thread. It starts: "Kodi Yinbum Mehni Yenghum Saintha-thum-mumma..." I have a good memory of IRs early hits, but this I could never make out! My best guess is, it is in "Nenjil Aadum Pooh Ondru". Those of you romantically inclined, I'd bet you would be riveted by this song. Can someone identify the movie for sure? No guesses please.

  achchaani has one more song 'thaalaattu.. pillai ennai thaalattu' which is good. similar to 'kannan oru kaikuzhandhai' from badrakaali. that reminds me.. when did badrakaali get released? that was in '77-'78 i think.
