Y'day i listened to the song "Rasave Unna Nambi" Janaki's masterpiece.. i still feel she should have shared the award with chitra(sindu bhairavi) for that year's best female playback singer.
It starts with beautiful humming.. it is awesome... actually the humming is different from song tune
other songs that starts with excellent humming

"oh-ho ohhoho ohoho ohohohohohoho" appideennu humming before the song "oh! rasikkum seemaanae (twraing twraing twraing)" varum. Andha Humming O-va sonnaen.
apparam famous "singaara vaelanae dhaeva" song munnaala kooda humming varummunnu ninaikkaraen, yaaru MD SMS-a?
yes "sirippil undaagum raagaththilae" and "Ninaiththaalae inikkum" are great experiments by MSV. But IMO these dont qualify for humming-before-song category. If so then the ever famous "thandhana thaththana thandhana thaththana thaana thayyana thandhanaa" of "sippi irukkudhu muththumirukkudhu" from varumayin niram sivappu should be qualified. i would say such songs are chanda-paadalgaL or something like that as they are not just a prelude for a song but are the base for the song.

DIGRESSION
talking of such chandham kind of experiments i think the song pon aenbaen siru poovenbaen sung by PBS is a kind of experiment. the tune is based on the sruthi exhibited(?) by a tampura. this is even more evident when PBS and PS sing "haa(n) haa(n) haaa(n) haaha haa(n) haa(n) haaa(n)" section. It was told by PBS in a programme that featured a jolly antaakshari kind of competition that has a mix of old singers and new singers.

As all of you know, LR Eshwari was chosen for the best humming bits.
If you stick to the starting humming, my vote goes to "Pattathu raaNi parkkum parvai" from Sivandha maNN. That humming was a great treat..
My next vote to "Mappillaikku maman manasu.. maamanukko kaman manasu" from Netri KaNN by Susheela (+ MVD). Enna arputha aarambam.
In between humming... hmmm... again it is for that fundu bit by LRE in Paadha kaNikkai the song "Veedu varai uravu".

another one from jhonny... oru iniya manathu..
it can also be categorised as a humming with a tune same as of the pallavi.
the song 'Illamai kaalam inge.. from Thaaikku oru thaalattu' is another one from this category.
