Back to IR's New Albums. I listened to CHINNADURAI. Nothing to rave about, except one STUNNING song. This was the one predominantly in Madhyamavathi Ragam, sung by UnniKrishnan and Devi. Very nice indeed. A glimpse of his touches of brilliance, why aren't they coming more in his new albums, that's what I ask?
However, I'd like to add this, Raja-Govindan commented that only Deva was capable of copying himself, by doing 2 songs in the same Raga in a film, namely Kadhal Kottai, the songs being Sivappu Rojakku and Vellaarikka.... I'm sorry to have to point this out, but it's been done by many MD's, inclusing our BENCHMARK, IR..... In Chinnadurai, there are 2 songs in Madhyamavathi, however, like Deva's try, neither was a copy of the other, similarly in MVU, where there are two numbers in Uthayaravichandrika(Suddha Dhanyasi)....Again, both quite defferent.....

C'mon IR fans.,
What we were expecting is here. Yet another great album by IR. 'Chinnath thurai'yilee patta kaayaththukku marunthu pooda vanthirukkiRathu 'Nilavee mukam kaattu'
The hero of this film ( Karthik ) is a Pattikkaattu musician with that 'Kottankuchchi' vaaththiyam. So many of the songs have this instrument in BGM. Athai vechchu enna viLayaattu kaatti irukkaar theriyumaa !!!!
KR angangee thalai kaattinaalum perisaa oNNum pirachchanai illai., IR muththirai intha album-l aazuthtamaa irukku !
Ithu varaikkum reNdu thadavai keettaachchu., muuNaavathu thadavai ooDittirukku !!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM & IF IR gives 2 albums like this per year., ITHUVEE ENAKKUP POOTHUM !!!!!!
Here is my detailed review., all strictly IMO !

First version by HH & the second one by KSC.
HH version sounds like a song sung by the Hero for the heroine (she is blind remember., ) & KSC version is sung by the heroine once she got her sight back - herovaik kaaNaamal sokammaakap paadaRaanga poolirukku !
IR's sanskrit SLOGAM & its tamil translation is a nice thing to mention in the HH song. paralelly there is another 'themmaangu' paattu in KSC version sung by one 'Kalaarasi' - nothing special about it !
Chitra is very sucessful in bringing the necessary emotions for the song
Hariharan kuralai maaththi maaththi paada muyaRchi paNNaRaar. Inspite of these vilaYaattukaL., this song sounds very good !
KSC one is easily the pick of these two & the Best song in this album IMO.

Typical IRish start to the song & SPB's majestic voice makes this song a good one. God., High pitch-la SPB appadiyee kalakkaRaar ! eththanai vayasaanaal enna., singam singamthaan !
This is a song sung by 2 friends - SPB & IR. Nothing special about Pazanibharathi's lyrics., but the tune is very good & chummaa paattu aLLittu pookuthu !
Kathik raja intha song-la eethoo viLayaadi irukkaar poolirukku., leesaa avar touch theriyuthu....

This is a good sogappaattu ! but i am sure most of the guys here are going to kill me if i say IR's voice fits the song excellently. But it does. Remember 'kathai poola thooNum., ' from Veeraththaalaattu., this song sounds 60% similar to that. Great violin pieces are the speciality of this song. Lyrics-la amma, friend, kaathal - ellamee vaRaanga., ithu enna type song-nne puriyalai ! eethoo 'Natpu thoolvi' song poola theriyuthu !

Pakka Dappanguththu song ! ithukku ethukku Mu. Meththa lyrics-nnuthaan puriyalai !
I assure you - innum reNdu maasaththilee tamil nadu muzukka intha song alaRappookuthu., paattu appadiyee thuukkuthu,, enakkkee ezunthu dance aadaNum polirukku., Kai thattal saththaththai vechche paathi music compose paNNi irukkar raja !
Shankar mahadevanukku thamiz theriyumaa theriyaathaa enakku theriyalai - aanaa 'Zha'karam ivarukku azakaa varuthu., arumaiyaa paadaRaar., his voice 120% fits the song.
Sure., an above average song !

Ilayaraja is back with his tabla !!!!! elloorum joora oru thadavai kai thattunga !
Hariharan enjoys singing this song., kashtap padaama asaththi irukkaar. From the Lyrics i guess the song situation is somewhat similar to 'pachcha mala poovu., ' from Kizakku vaasal.
Somewhat similar to 'Nandhavanak kuyilee., ' from PVK !
MaRupadiyum KR vaadai adikkuthu., naalla veeLai athu paattai disturb paNNalai !

BTW, I always have this fear with IR, whenever a album of his gets hyped up before its release, the album proves to be a major disappointment. I remember reading so many stories about paattu vaaththiyaar, innisai mazhai etc prior to their release and when they did come out, what a disappointment they proved to be:-( I sincerely hope this TIME it is proved wrong:-)
As far as buying Music in US goes:-, H&M is a decent source. They get the CDs in time.
