  one song they show in tv for vishwa tulasi has the same feel (only feel not tunes / inspiration) as that of "poo kodiyin punagai" from iruvar..probably the story is set to that time
  
  however the songs were pleasant to hear........ btw some paper quotes the director as saying IR only does the bgm, while msv does the songs

  BGM is a ambiguous term. It can be the interludes of a song also, not only the re-recording. It may be like "Mella thiranthathu kathavu" in which MSV composed tunes and Raja took care of interludes.

  Do you guys think that IR will just pen the lyrics and not compose the tune for them ? I suspect earlier songs done by MSV for the director will be reworked and the BGM added by IR.

  Guys,
  Use 'BGM' to mean the music for the scenes and use 'orchestrization' to mean music for the songs (for which IR has supposedly not composed). Because in songs the music is not exactly in the 'background' (especially during the interludes).

  I guess 'Vishwa Tulasi' is not exactly what I'd call a remake of 'The Notebook,' that I mentioned earlier in the thread.

  Why the hell must all these Hollywood flicks be so damn pathetic, with the man and woman always getting into each others' mouths every frickin' film!?? They have some really beautiful females (who could say 'no' to Hilary Duff??), and we Indians have some really meaningful storylines and music, and more handsome men IMHO (oh, so many!); now if these two could combine, that'd be really really beautiful!
  
  I do acknowledge that there are beautiful Indian women as well as super-handsome American men. I'm just really excited for East and West to come closer together.

  Vishwa Thulasi-the movie itself was not much worth mentioning apart from our God IR's Music. hardly there were any dialogues in the movie. the whole movie was carried forward by IR IR IR ...
  may be the director as quoted in her interview that she doesnt know about anything about filmmaking, but she had dreams, and her characters came out from the poems she had written already.... IR has breathed life into those characters. nothing else the movie is for HCIRFans or to aptly say its for music lovers:-)
  IT would be nice if the producers release the movie songs and BGM bits which will atleast make 1 hr of a musical journey...

  Yes Thumburu, it is true that her voice has deteriorated with the catching-up of age.
  
  But definitely she can occasionally sing a song - not solo - but duet.
  
  By-the-By, what made ARR, give the song "Anjanam Vetcha Kannalo; Manjal Kulicha Nenjallo" in "Udhaya" to SJ ?
  
  It is a duet, which she sings with SPB.
  
  Not bad, but still we can definitely feel the deterioration in her voice.

  The BGM is just amazing... after a long time, felt happy to hear SPB, Vani jayaram singing for IR and MSV..

  The songs in this movie reminded me of the 80's.. They have the typical MSV's tabla beats.. the interludes are very much IRish.. I would think VJ is MSV's choice... IR might have liked to use SPB... just guessing... anyway...the songs are pretty good
