STS,
I'm curious as to why you have called it as vikadan.com. I'm aware of Ananda Vikatan's vikatan.com site.. dont u think this would be a confusing name?

Chandy,
When I was searching a site name for a long time, I tried Kumudham, Vikadan etc etc and found that vikadan was still there. Hence took it. You question really make me feel little bit uncomfortable. It is like 'Is it wrong ?'

I dont think it is wrong. But a decent solution would be to give a link to vikatan.com saying if you are looking for this go here sort of thing. They do it at BBC.com.

News!!
IR is composing music for Director Tanushree Dutta(?)'s documentary film on the Kannada Poetess, 'AKKA'. This 14th century poetess was a rebel, a strong-willed woman who questioned the very idea of the 'body' having to be confined by an outer veil (dress). She used to wander naked and propounded a kind of cult and became an icon of sort in Karnataka. Many of her followers worship her as a demi-goddess. Tanushree, a young woman director who has some much-acclaimed documentaries such as 'I live in Behrampada' to her credit came across this true story while filming a documentary on women poets in India. Seema Biswas (of Bandit Queen fame) is playing the central characters.
Ilayaraja, himself an ardent admirer of AKKA, is composing music for this film, which includes 6 songs.
Isn't that great news?

STS,
your site has got nothing to do with kumudham or vikadan magazines.. so if someone is searching for these magazaines and if they visit your site, they will not be very happy that they visited a wrong site..in that sense, your site name is misleading. hence i asked you if it would be confusing.
As Kamesh says, you'll have to explain in your site that it has got nothing to do with ananda vikatan and also provide a link to vikatan.com for those who accidentally stepped in to your site... NOM

KC, anyway have a look at this. Thanks to Kiru (ungal perai solli marupadiyum niraiya thadavai ketten!), but I don't know my review is upto ur expectation. Nice effort by NagaS on KP. I couldn't get KP and KUT albums. A request for Arul and his wonderful team, Why don't we have an affiliation with any online vendor for IR's new releases to make sure the availability to the public.

I think the Gana Karunguleye song in Sethu is sung by Subbha who sings a lot in ARR's music.

Hi,
An observation that I made after hearing to "Hey Ram" CD in Hindi (original CD released by UNIVERSAL). For the title song, there is no sound from the surround speakers, but the same song in the cassette version (again from Universal) has the surround speakers element. How this has happened? Did anyone notice? If its a mistake, then Ilaiyaraaja has to be informed (through RAAJANGAHM) about it, so that in future he (or someone in the sound department) gets a good quality output of his recording's (re-recordings aswell (of Hey Ram BGM)). I have not yet got it in Tamil version. Which CD/cassette company (apart from Ramiy) has released it in tamil?
BTW, I like the drum beat in the title track. Particularly, I liked it in the end when it is more dominant (and probably slightly different from the beginning, I did not notice much, though) and the sax piece blending very well. I liked the ending very much. The recording quality of the CD is pretty good. With regards to recording quality, I felt even "TIME" recording was good (I have only heard the mp3 songs so far, I am yet to get the CD).

Visiri,
Thanks for the review. I took some time to listen to the songs while reading the review during work hours itself. I liked your review. Very detailed. I like 'kAyathiri kEtkum' song very much. This has strings, flute - the mainstay of IR. But have been orchestrated very differently. You said it sounds like some 80's style. Any more pointers in this direction ? BTW, was this song well received by TN audience ?
I know SPB totally dominates this album !!. You correctly mention his voice sounds better. I think one of the reason could be because we have been listening too much to other singers :) Oh what a pleasure to listen to good lyrics and good tamil pronounciation and original ethnic melodies !!
(Some of these songs are carnatic rAgam based, I guess ??)
I only wish IR does something about the way the percussion sounds. They dont seem to have been given their 'space'. The sound is too in your face Recording synth/keyboard sounds is a different ball game. IR's recording engineers are not upto the task, IMHO.
And thanks for the review.

My only request to the Director Raja Shekaran:
Please have someone like SARITA to dub for Devayani. I can't just tolerate her (or her current dubbing artiste's) 'keechu Kural'. PoRiyil Sikkiya Eli Maadhiri!!!
BTW, the director seems to have a Marathi fixation: In MOha MuL, he roped in Marathi dancer/small-time actress Archana Joglekar to play an immortal character conceived by Ti. Janakiraman.
With many of our Tamil actors killing the 'la's and 'La's; 'na's and 'Na's, I wonder what Sayaaji Shinde is got in store for us? He is a good actor no doubt: I have seen him essaying the role of an eunuch madam in Kalpana Lajmi's award winning 'Daarmiyaan'. But the diction factor is quite unnerving: especially, considering the fact that he is playing our Bharathi!!!
I can't think of a better actor than Kamal for this role: be it passion, love for the language and technique, he's got it all and I am sure he would bring the Mahakavi to life.
What are your thoughts on this?
The only saving grace in the above news is that IR is scoring the music: Had it been ARR, we will have the Udit Narayans, Sadhana Sargams and Ustaad Sultan Khans going on the Tamil Killing Spree (and in the process making the songs 'National hits' and Bharati, an International Icon!)

1. Moghamul's character had Marathi Lineage and I felt Archana did fit the bill verywell.
2. Kamal!! Yes he is a great actor, but he would have commercialized the film, with kiss scenes (his aging may be causing some insecurities????). Even otherwise he would have overdone that role. Though I don't know much about this Sayaaji character, still I can go expecting some realism.
3. My only request to IR is the male voice should be someone other than Hariharan. He would sing something like 'Sutrum.. (instead of Suttum)' and 'Kandugonden ..(instead of Kandkonden)'. KJY would be best or some Ganeer new voice (SPB had some wonderful Barathi songs in VNS, but still someone else would be nice)
4. I agree Saritha/Rohini's voice would be really good.
