  Wonderful, isn't it! How often do you get to see/ hear IR in such a relaxed, casual mood. SPB just set the perfect mood for him, i guess. He must do more such stage shows, it will help him refresh and rejuvenate everytime he gets to enjoy himself on stage like this.

  In an age where most musicians (of course only in India!) spend their time reading the latest software manuals rather than reading books on harmony, counterpoint, orchestration or Carnatic ragas or whatever, Raja is and has always been an anachronism.
  
  This is the best part of the article I liked, reflecting the no-basics scenario of the current genre. I think it was kiru who mentioned in some other thread, "people who don't know Knuth's have become software engineers". I think the same hold good for MD's too :-( Adding to Kiru's thoughts, to one more level, people who do not even know 2's complement arithmetic now write computational programs.

  Man, what a choice for the Hindi song of Madan Mohan and Lata. Truly, a genius can quickly identify another. "Keladi kannmani" song, what a choice man! SPB and IR - two of a kind. Thanks a lot Vijay, this made my day!

  Kavithaigal sollava is a private album from Kartik raja with Singapore Singer's like Erfanula ,Jumbalaka fame Mohd Rafee..and many more of them the album was released in september ..u may check out in ramiy.com

  Normal Man, atleast there is one person who sees my point :) Guitar Prasanna is right on the dot..When today people are fighting it out for a catchy melody or rhythm IR went into the other dimension, harmony, doing fantastic chords/counterpoints. I dont think anybody heard all these subtle, recorded at low level stuff those days in their AM radios. Still he did it. An artist does things first to satisfy himself and only then to satisfy his audience !!! IR has been commercially beaten..musically still unchallenged.
  I really would like more and more people here to listen to bass/chords/counterpoints in IRs songs and write about it here. A good headphone like Grado SR-60 will help (costs $70 and it is really worth it, I have a Sennheiser though).

  hey guys..i was going through the web page and suddenly was astonished that the" vanengum " song from "moondram pirai " wasnt talked about much compared to "kannae kalaimane"..i think "vanengum" is the best song of that album...what an introduction ... a slow gentle start ..and then the humming of SJ (she amazes me everytime)..and the the oozing melody and remmeber its hip too..prasanna was too good in identifying that song..for me that song goes down as one of IR's best ever....and also there is another song in " un kannil neer vazinthal"....it hgoes by " malare malare un vasam"... an amazing song...thankx love live IR MANIA

  Could u please explain in simple, plain language (words) what exactly are bass/chords/counterpoints and any other such basic (?) intricacies of music. Please try to keep it very simple, I am a HCIRF, I some time feel if I was even eligible to listen to this great genious's music with out knowing these stuff.
  
  Just one more thing to all IR fans, I saw "Kutti" movie on video ( vere vazhi ille, I missed it on screen during my recent visit to India, because movie escaped from the theatres fast...Vaazhga Tamizh Nattu makkazh), anyways, it is a very realistic movie, with some very good BGM from Maestro after Sethu. The songs are very good too.
  I have a lot to write about this movie, which I will do soon.
  
  Kiru, one more question to you, I know u discuss a lot about the audio equipments/sound related details, tell me how are u managing to listen the old goldies of IR , I am seperately looking for some of the old IR hits in a digitally remastered form, I am not able to find them.
  
  For ex: Mullum Malarum, Metti, Azhagiya Kanne, most of old BR movies, Eara vizhi kaaviyangazh, enkkaga kaathiru , Poonthazhir, etc
  can u suggest me how I can dub (record them) with good noise reduction from my audio cassette collection, so I can either record them in real audio files or MP3 files. I have some decent software programs to interconvert between real audio and mp3 to WMA and vise versa. I appreciate your and other's suggestions. I am still waiting for Raajangham administrators to come out with some good company who can release all IR old hits in digitally remasterd Cd versions. I bought the collection from MIL ( original, and supposedly a well known company, Music India Limited ), a collection of 3IR hits(P. Puspangazh, Enakkuzh Oruvan, K Meengal) + 1 MSV movie (savaal),
  but you see the quality is still not upto the mark, I don't know why?
