I am trying to recall...can't. Anyhow, don't feel bad that I posted the above. Maybe I should have put smileys in the posting. Anyhow, I was just in a hurry so I didn't. But then, I didn't think you had said it in any other way accept as a joke. And I had thought that you were asking me. That is why I responded. It was mostly just to clarify myself since I know that the other posting was like cut and paste work. I didn't think that there was anything to be insulted about when I posted! But now you have certainly gone and made me wonder!:-)) Don't think twice about it. My postings are usually as light hearted as yours when it comes to anything that I am not totally into. Only I don't have such an effective name as you do:-)) But in any case, please don't take anything the wrong way.

Annathey: I am too tired(:-)) to start justifying my earlier statement...I felt it was bad....hence said so!
But I have to say that I liked ESK much better...esp. "Thirakaadha"...I thought that was one of ARR's best songs ever.

Kitcha - It's nice talking to you ... after a real long time. I know how you feel. Lot of water has passed, right? I too sometimes feel tired to issue a rebuttal. (God has been kind to me today. :)
Could you e-mail me your tel no.? Would it be convenient to call you now. :-))
End of digression.

Oops!
Don't get me wrong. I don't intend to change Kitcha's mind. This one is a sangamam of a different kind.

varaaga nadhikkaraiyOram is very good. It doesn't
seem to be an inspiration. In terms of style and
beats, I am, however reminded of the song,
paaradi kaNNE konjam, paiththiyamaanadhu nenjam
from Vallavanukku Vallavan. I also liked maargazhi
thingaL very much - Janaki is excellent.
sowkkiyamaa is ok - I am certainly not a
fan of Nithyashree; avarudaya kuralil inimaiyillai enbadhu en karuththu!
ESK a fiasco? Are you joking? Songs such as
thiRakkaadha kaattukkuLLE and chinna
chinna mazhai thuLigaL are very nice,
I felt!

I agree with you. My first reaction to listening to "Varaha NadhiKarai Oram...."
Paradi Kannae Konjam.... + Va Vennila Unnai thanae Vanam Thaedudae.... + some modification = Varaha Nadhikarai Oram....

Vels,
It is Shankar Mahadevan!, he is a nice prospect in TFM. He has modulated his voice brilliantly to suit an upbeat folk in 'sittu parakkuthu kuththaalaththil' and now in 'varaaga nathikarai' , a kawali melody. Awesome brigas at the beginning of the song punched with excellent acoustical effect(kudos ARR!) for the charanams 'panja vaRnak kIli nee paRantha pinnaalum anju varNam nejilirukku' and 'nee yenak kadanthu pOgayilE un nizhala pidichchikittEn'. He could have been more clear in pronounciation as the last couple of lines in charaNams are kinda difficult to understand. Guileful lyrics;-))) , 'kAvErik kaRaiyil maramAi irunthAl vaerukku yOgamadi'.

Does 'Ennai villai azhakE" from KD have anything in common with the song "thanga pathakathin meLE" in some MGR movie.

Nov,
I m glad that u liked sangamam, but I cant say the same thing. I take ESK anytime over sangamam. I felt both sowikayamma, margalhi thingal sound,
very one dimensional, and pretentious. I can't pin point, but some thing was missing. But just like you, I have been very careful in trying out new ARR albums recently, after ESK.
Varaha nadhikarai song, in singing, and execution, reminds me of another ARR song - in MR.romeo by aslam mustafa and MSV, damn, i dont remember the song now. But varaga is a very well executed song though.

Hi guys,
I second e.hari's opinion about the "varaha song.
When i heard it first time, it caught me by surpirse. It was neatly executed and well set in place.
Though it has very little "bits" of other songs, we cannot deny that it was good. The percantage of "inspiration" (copy) in that song counts. Its very low i guess.

Hi ,
E.Hari : I think the song u are referring to is "Samba Samba" which was sung by Aslam Musthafa in Love Birds.
The song interlude in Aalala Kanda(Sangamam) before the first stanza begins has a piece which very much resembles the music in the MGR song "Aadaludan Paadalaikettu"
Pl correct me if I'm wrong !!

guys,
i think you've missed muthal murai by sujatha and srinivass
this is the best song in that album ,in term of music, and lyric...credit also should go to the singers.
maybe now you cant see it because that song ai not listenable after a first hearing.
beter you check it out,and you wont listen to margazhi thinggal

Hi friends,
"Varaha nathikkaraiyoram" from the film sangamam is a copy of "damadum mast kalandar" sung by Runa Laila. Though it is a copied song, it is really good.
"Roja roja" remainds me one old song sung by S.P.B.(pallavi only). Can you tell me the original song ?

Sathiya Keerthi - Sorry to have hurt your feelings. :-))
Wrong choice of word. The "fiasco" was entirely mine. :-))
I can tolerate Nithyasree's voice and anyway she is used sparingly and only in certain kind of songs. That's a kind of consolation. Shankar Mahadevan is very good is Varaaga nadhikarai oram.
The more I listen to Sangamam, the better I like it. Hopefully it will have "staying power."

Varadha song is set in Behag/Yaman Kalyani, hence sounds like a lot of old songs, in fact, the style also resembles many old numbers, only it's been given a new dimension.
