It is sad to see our Raaja being commented by these worthless and third rate characters like KS.Ravikumar. The only thing these people have done to TFM is dishing out third rate movies like Muthu, Natpu, Naatamai etc.
What right he has got to comment on our raaja? I have seen this guy being interviewed in Sun TV. He is just like a villain and talking like a Dada.
Raaja may have come down on commercial value but who can forget those wonderful songs and tunes he has given us in the 80s and 90s.

Guys,
I saw the movie 'Bharathy' yesterday. Its a very nice movie, all the songs are very well picturised. In fact, the songs have totally blended with the movie. Good team work by IR, the Director of the movie Gyanasekaran and the Director of Photography "Thangar Bachaan".
Here are some of my observations.
1. "Mayil Polla.." -- Though the song sounds bland when listening on CD, it was nicely picturised and was aptly tuned for the situation.
I liked Bhava's and also the Bharathy's (Male Singer??) version too.
2. "Ethullum Ingu Iruppan" -- The song picturised on the banks of Ganges in Kasi is just great.
3. "Ninnai CHaran Adaintheen" -- Only the Bombay jayashree's version comes in the movie after Chellama leaves the house. The song is nicely picturised and suites very well with the scene.
4. Agni Kunjondru -- Also sounds nice in the movie.
I could not find a single song in the movie that did not fit the scence. Nice work by IR and his team.

Swami,
Thanks for uploading the BGM of Idhayathai Thirudathey. Brings back memories. Still remember every note.
Does anyone have the piece at the end of the Hindi version of the Nagarjuna starrer "Shiva" (Udhayam in Tamil) ? Its not in the Telugu or Tamil version and was cut in the video version of the Hindi movie.
Its a haunting piece that starts simply on the acoustic guitar and then IR's violins take over. Would be lovely to hear it again. Imagine if we had MP3's of all these BGMs !!!!

And just remembering the opening scene in Idhayathai Thirudathey. After the exuberant song Vidiya Vidiya Nadanam in Sindhu Bhairavi, Nagarjuna meets with an accident and then this sombre piece (also in Sindhu Bhairavi) takes over. First a fast shade of the ragam and then a sombre shade. Who else but IR ?

We all know that it is a fact that IR is no more the preferred MD of Tamil directors.
He has got no commercial value anymore.
This is what IR himself is thinking, whats wrong with my music now. He has become the untouchable of TFM eventhough in our hearts he will be the Raja forever its not the case in the present world.
So your question is a thing of the past would have made sense in 80s and early 90's as we all know his music standard or the quality went on the down path atleast thats what directors feel and you can always defend IR. But the fact is the casette sales tell that. I have had personally encountered this in one of the madras casette shops when asked for the IR tape ,owner said we dont buy his casettes like we used to 'Yaru Sir vanguranga ongalamathri silaparukka nanga vangamudiyathu, and seriya move aga madenguthu sir' so the audio shops filled in with SAs,Devas and ofcourse ARR than IR.
Anyway this is not to bring down IR or his music.
Its a known fact all these new MD are just walking on the path laid by the Mastero.
Every modern TFM MD music is inspired by IR its a known fact. But I personally feel our tamil audience wants something new now they have listened enjoyed and cherished his music for the past 20odd yrs..
So IR music will be Golden thing of the past never to forget and never outshined..
Everyone knows this every fan if you ask
they will tell you they all listen to his music tuned during period of 80-90 rather then his latest ones.

I guess this is the first Diwali after a veryyy long time which has no films from IR.
It is a pathetic story altogether.... The man who was considered a machine in providing melodies is out of films.....

Dappankuthu + Modifying previous IR tunes ---> Deva
Western Pop, Rock, Country, Jazz copier ---> ARR
A slight variant of Deva ---> SAR
Originality lies with IR.
Even today listen to "Kanna Unai Thaedugiraen",
Vanji Kodi Vandhu Vandhu Valaithal Ennai....
There is something pulls you to hear. It won't be catchy at the first time hearing. But two or three times listening, you are hooked, that is IR.
Anyway, no need for comparison of IR with anybody else. Because, most of the musicians at one point of time or other have been his Shisyas. ARR was a Keyboard man with IR.
Let us just go ahead with IR's new albums. Hope there will not be any more digression on these type of comparisons.

IR goes one step ahead by copying specifically from Mozart,Beethoven.
Let's not compare ARR with any classical copier.

before we go further, a piece of info.
Yes, ARR was a Keyboard man with IR. so what?
Arr was also playing for shakthi (zakir, l.shanker and other few big names)
likewise
IR was playing guitar for G.K.Venkatesh and spb.
Now let's really get back to the topic.
