srikanth,
also what about the ending of the song 'theendai'.
I liked the way, ARR overlapped the singers voice.
Is it not a noval thing in TFM?. We have songs like 'poomaliye thol cherva', but I felt, this one was different.

ARR has been more than inspired by ceylon manohar in Jumbalakka (ESK).in fact the guy who sings it sound very CMish.Cud see some traces of Ricky martin too ,in some places. yet to give some serious listening to the other songs.

Shankar: Very true about the 'baila'/AE Manohar aspect, many have noticed this and also, the Ricky Martin stuff, as the Spanish theme is really carried out in the song Jumbalakka.
Hari: I too noticed the overlapping voices in Theendai, the technique sounds fantastic and shows the 'pains' he has gone through in producing the track.
Venkat: It's definitely Jungle, that is the way that technique is taught at drum school, whereas Drun 'n' Bass sounds different.
RameshB: I'm certainly impressed with the fact that you were able to catch the words so quickly, it's taken many of my friends a while to do so, and resulted them in looking at the words booklet provided by Pyramid.... As for the natural flow, I should have mentioned that I was referring to the Niagra song, as I felt that even though it has 'grown' on me, it is IMO a somewhat 'strange' /slightly disjolted number. I'm in total agreement about the numbers you have mentioned.
Thanks for the confirmation RR. Please can you or Ravi take off the repeat postings caused by my browser.....
By the way, if you have a chance to today, please take a look at(reference to ARR here) http://www.awaaz.net/music/sivamani/

Wasn't Sivamani IR's drummer before? My Brother once met him in a flight and he was boasting that he IR's troupe member.
Could you please clarify, was it this wonderman or someone else?

RameshB,
listened to all of ESK songs today.I was clean bowled like u said after listening to "chinna chinna malaithuligal" song. I finally ended up listening to it atleast about 10 times..your lyrics proved very useful. one minor change..
ivaL kaNNiyenba thinthamazhai kaNdarinthu sonnathu..shld be
ivaL kaNNiyenba thinthamazhai kaNdarinthu solliathu
Man this song is too good..Vairamuthu has done a very good job in terms of lyrics for this song. I just wish he had not used the word "shower"...I felt that there was a break in the rhythm at that particular juncture.other song I liked was "theendai"...and "jumbalakka"...rest of them were OK.
RR do u like "chinna chinna malai" now after listening to it a few times? just curious that's all.First time I am hearing MG.Srikumar. Is he relatively new?
Thanks Guys.have a good one...

M.G.Sreekumar is a very well known Malayalam singer... He sang the Malayalam in Nenjinile from Uyirae.. and has sung in ARR's Hindi films Doli Sajake Rakhna (Kissa Hum Likhenge), Kabhi Na Kabhi (Tu Hi Tu), and Dil Se.. (the Malayalam in Jiya Jale).

Pulavar MGS debut in tamil is 'aatma'.
ESK is the best album i have listened to in the past 2 years. Usually ARR albums doesnt interest you in first few listenings but this one just absorbs you in the very first listening.
Theendai and chinna chinna-wowwwwwww.
Lets Hope that ARR comes out with more goodis like these

pulavar:
MGS sang a song in "Mogamul" ( the IR classic which was grossly ignored, yet again, for a surefire national award!) .
The song goes "Sollaiyo vaai thirandhu"....
(He is also a National award winner for a malayalam number in the film "Kireedom")
btw this Rafi who sings "Jimbalaka.." , I remember having seen his name on the credits for the "Yennai kaanavilaiyye netrodu" song in Kadhal Desam.
"Thirakaadha.." is a real classy number and Unnikrishnan shows how good he is in the higher scales !
and I thought "Jimbalaka" and "Chinna Chinna" sounded dangerously familiar !! :)
NOV annathey...talking about "religious undertones" in ARR songs, what about the reference to Christ's "hit on one cheek-show him the other" preaching in one of the songs by Vairamuthu??? :-)
Like NOV, I am not here to stir any controversy and am just making "comments" :-)

Hi guys,
at last, i am as pleased as punch , that the lull is broken in this thread on ESK review. After all, music has the charms to soothe the savage ------.
Pulavar,
i too felt odd about use of word 'shower' in the song, it fits nicely though. I was really moved by the lines "nee vAzha vantha vAzhvil oru paguthi izhakkiRAi, nee kaNgaL moodi kaRaiyumbothu maNNil soRgam yeithuvAi" . Reminds me of kannadasan.
Kitcha,
VM has smelt the yesu nAthar kAtRu and i think it is an revolutionary attempt,IMO, to borrow this concept in to a love theme "oru kaNNam thanthEn munnE, maru kaNNam thanthAi pinne , yEsu nAthar kAtRu vanthu veesiyathO".
I donot know how VM felt to write
"vizhith theendal uyirk kiLLum
viral theendal uLLam kiLLum".
I think it should be the other way .
"vizhith theendal uLLam kiLLum
viral theendal uyirk kiLLum"
VM sir, i gainsay your anolagy
has anyone felt like VM?!

Vara Vara intha Vairamuthuvin kottam thaanga mudiyalappa!
Listen to VM's lyrics for the first song, Oru Thuli.
It says that 'Chakravaga Paravai' Mazhayai Arundum!!!!!!!
I think we all learnt that it is Saadhaka Paravai that drinks the first drops of rain.
Kaviyarasar Vairamuthuvin kandupidippukku Jai!
Valarga avar pani!

Vimal,
ESK is NOT all that bad to be compared with AndALu. But, for me ,the trend is , when i listened to Jeans , i felt the songs were pedestrian. Then came dilse. I found jeans far better than that. ESK doesn't have even a single song to match Eh Ajnabi. ThirakkAtha is good (esp those violin interludes). But i won't compare it with Eh Ajnabi.
well, the theeNdai wud also have been written off had it been sung by anybody other than SPB. He was brilliant in that number. arr cud've avoided those moans that come in the beginning of the song.
Jimbalakka ,as i said earlier is pedestrian.
Except one song the interludes are badly done, they r more like fillers.
VM is as usual algorithmic, the lyrics are good, though.
Well, for arr's standards it's a good album. If the MD were Raja , i wud 've thrown this album out.
All IMO :-))

Kitcha,
didn't MGS sing "nenjE guru nAdharin" in mOgamuLL???
That song, IMO, is the very, very diff from other carnatic numbers. The song has life in it. Though MGS is poor at pronunciation, he gets those emotions well.Brilliant song set to natakapriya.
