Thanks Ravi. I hate the atrocious thamizh pronunciation by some singers including Sadhana Sargam (she has tried a lot to improve in Snehidhaney, even though her attempt is futile at many places), Vibha Sarma (indha sirippinai ingu paarthaen - a very good composition, royally killed by her pronunciation of thamizh), etc. And most of this -the kaaranagartha is ARR, though others also play a role in it.
It is great to see Chithra back in action in KK2, thanks to ARR. What a soulful rendition by her in that song 'Engey enadhu kavidhai".!

Sriram,
I loved Chitra's rendition in 'Engey enadhu kavidhai' and 'Kannamboochi Enada' too. Like you said, it is great to see her back in action. From what you say, it seems that you have heard the whole song. Did you? The ramiy site seems to have a very short sample of the song. If you did, could you tell me the URL where you got the whole song?
Thanks in advance,
Sabari

No Sabari,
I am equally eager as you to listen to the full length of the songs. Kannamboochi yaenada... has a great Carnatic flavour. Romba meimarandhu kaetkiraen. Great song after a while, from ARR, though he has used this ragam before. KJY and Chithra have given life to this song. It is always nice to hear these veterans singing after a brief break. Aanandham..
Engey enadhu kavidhai - even the bit shows how emotional that song can be, as sung by chithra.

Well, I think these days it is not cool to pronounce Tamil properly :(. Probably, it is part of ARR's strategy to sound different or modern. The guy knows how to sell his work.

I strongly agree with the Tamil pronunciation in the songs is extremely bad. Even though I do not personally speak pure Madras Tamil, it is still very easy to tell when a person speaks it badly. I do not feel Asha Bhosle is capable of accurate Tamil pronunciation. Her Hindi music is nice, but not Tamil. It is a shame that music directors take in new people and end up ruining the language. What I was hoping for was having a movie someday with pure Carnatic classical music sung by Subbalakshmi. I think it would be a great touch of life to the fast-moving music industry---to have a flow of the pure classics. What do you think?

pure "Madras" tamil ? Are you implying something like infinitesimally big ? :-) (NOM)

Sriram - Thanx for the acknowledgement and also thanx to Vasanth, Kiru, Sabari, MS for airing ur voice in support of good Tamil pronunciation. As Kiru rightly pointed out, may be it has become a fashion to not speak Tamizh as Tamizh. Even people with Tamil as their mother tongue feel low to speak in Tamizh.
In this context, I think we should appreciate efforts of music directors like Ilayaraja, MSV-Ramamurthy and lyricist Vairamuthu who give importance to the language as such. But ARR himself doesnt pronounce Tamizh well. Music directors should stress the importance of good pronunciation whatever language it be.

Friends,
The audio for KK must have released today,I guess. The ramiy site has not uploaded the full songs as yet. If anyone comes across a site that has full songs, would you be kind enough to post it in this section.
Thanks,
Sabarivasan

kk has great songs though pronunciation of tamil was wanting.great dynamics good scale and depth. soundstaging is really excellent and the images stands out right tight. should be listened on a good system . very close to audiophile class. only rahman can do this.it is sad to hear so many good music gone waste by bad recording . hey ram deserves better recording at least.

The song "pachai Nirame" sounds like one of the songs from colonial cousins album. If I am right the song starts with "krishna...". Does any1 feel so or is it just that both the songs are based in the same ragam.

Engey enadhu kavidhai - is even more appealing on listening fully, thanks to the above mentioned sites. More ragas, apart from Sindhu Bhairavi is used.

Hi everybody
Did not want to comment before listening to KK's songs in full. I sure feel some gratitude to the site hosted by 'amplitude'!
This seems to be one of ARR's best album so far after '1947-Earth'.
I will write a detailed review once I have the original audio. But in short I want to be the first one to predict that this album is going to win the State Award for Best album and quite possibly the National award (given the beautiful blending of Carnatic/Western/Pop/Worldmusic elements). The main melody and the interludes in most songs are very imaginatively composed. Orchestration is excellent as well.
So, get a hold of this album ASAP and enjoy.

Absolutely Shashi. I am so hooked on to it as I type this. Very satisfying album. The ghamakams and melody in the voice of Chithra is just spellbinding. KJY's best effort after a long time. Very complicated compositions, a painstaking effort by ARR. Just mesmerizing!! Many shades better than Alai payudhey. Eager to read your review! Engey enadhu kavidhai - is undoubtedly the best from this album.

Hi,
Actually the 'santhana thenralai...' song is really good. It starts melodiously and picks up momentum, the end result being a good song with melody + good flavour of music + rythm.

Hey guys,
Ihave had the opportunity to hear both Alaipayuthe and KKandukonden Kandukonden.Although i was very impressed by both the CD's I must say that I favoured Alaipayuthe more. The first song 'Pachai Nirame' was very well sung and the the harmonies worked well. The second song was however my favourite. The simple Kathal Chadugudu had something that really attracted me as well as a great set of vocals.Alaipayuthe was sung very well also as was Snehidane in Sindubhairavi. It seems that ARR sir has a particular liking for this raga and also Misra peelu.
I was also impressed by the level of carnatic music in Theem Tadadara which I originally heard in Thakshak.
My only qualm is the pronunciation of Tamil in these songs.I believe that in some ways even if the the voice is not as great, it is very important to make sure that the lyrics can be understood.Asha Bhosle has an amazing voice but it did not seem to work for pronunciation inSeptember Maadham.
From KK KK i really liked 'Smaiyiee' and Kannamoochi which was very well sung by both Chitraji and Yesudas sir.
