Nags:
Forget that you are Raaja's fan. Let us go by the hyper-critical way of analyzing things....Do you think that this album of Raaja is really good?? How do you rate this album of IR among the contemporaries? Really good....OK....or Excellent? Any idea whether this will do good rounds in Tamilnadu?? I am very anxious to know about this.

Hi Kovai Thambi,
My rating to this album is only 5/10., But i guess the song 'Sorkkaththil nikkaah., ' is going to hit Number 1 place in all countdowns., Simply great song.,

Guys,
Listened to 'Rajasthan' only once, IMO, the album
is below below average stuff and lyrics are just
atrocious. From the movie name and songs, I
understand that this movie is about some political
stuff. Do they need songs for this kind of movies
too? No wonder, Raaja hasn't composed anything
good, the whole album sounds like KR stuff.
I wish he should spend sometime and compose
songs like 'guru' & 'yAtramozhi' in tamil too.
There are six songs in this album and nothing
is good to rave about. I think Pazhani Barathi
is the lyricist, I really liked some of his lines
in ullAsam, kAthalukku mariyAthai but he too
disappointed me here. This album goes paththOdu
pathinonnu to Raaja' film list, nothing more
than that.
I listened to them only on the net not on the
cassette/cd, if you're curious about where the
songs are on the net, you can find them in my
IR page (they'll be on-line this evening).
I was little bit hesitant to put them up in
my page since the songs are not good. Anyway
listen to them and judge yourself.

I think with Rajastan it's time to start a new thread: "Is IR running out of stuff?" or "Has IR run out of stuff?" or even better "How long ago did IR run out of stuff?" :)

Raj,
"Raja's stanam will be permanently in the hearts of music lovers."
I understand that, I am not an IR fan to think that others with different tastes won't have someone other than my favourite MD's music in their heart.
My foot's fine, thank you. It's good to know you are obsessing on a foot of someone other than IR :)

I'm_not_clarify,
Maybe I will, mabye I will! But on second thought a thread like that would make too much sense in this forum. You know with threads like "IR's appearance in movies" and "We can sponsor an album by IR" :)

SRK:
Yen Deivame ! I thought of 10 different insults for Ram (right from asking Raj not to steal my favourite punching bag to wondering if Ram thought himself incapable of starting sensible threads !!!) and didn't post any as I wanted to play fair - there are simply too many IR fans in this forum for Ram to argue with. Wish I had thought up one decent retort like yours :-))
Ram:
Good repartee there about your foot ! But as you can see, a few of us here will always have an equally insulting answer to all the muck that you can hope to throw. I can understand your angst at seeing a talented MD like ARR degraded like this. But the answer is not to degrade an even greater MD - that only validates all the insults thrown at ARR so far. I have stopped doing that for some time now. Hope you'll see the better side of the DF too, and use that instead of involving yourself with the less attractive aspect of discussions here. If you truly consider yourself to be above partisanship, I encourage you to show it in action. You will definitely find a dozen others willing to discuss with equal magnanimity.

nesanp,
Just now I checked and every link works
fine for me. Old versions of Real audio
player don't work for these clips. You
should have Real Player G2, what
do you have? If not G2, goto their homepage
and get the latest.

Hi MPR, thanks a ton for the songs of Rajasthan.
Contrary to the opinion of some DF-ers like Nagas, Rajasthan is quite disappointing. Someone raved about "Sorgathil Nikkah Nikkah" and the hindi interludes. The song is catchy... but its nothing great to rave about. Its NOT another Mastana-Mastana of IR. The hindi-portion of the song sung by bhava (will someone request IR to stop promoting his daughter? she is undoing most of IR's doing!) and some other guys, IMO is not good. Padu kolai!!! the hindi pronounciation (though its a tamil song) could best be described as horrible! this song also reminded me of Atama-Therotama of captain prabhakaran.. try and sing the "uyiya uyiya" in that song and then sing the 3rd-4th lines of Sorgathil nikka.. "melligayil meimarandha malligaiye".. you can possibly decipher the similarity.. the drum beats are also similar!
Much has been said about the great(!) contributions of Pazhani-Bharathi as a lyricist to rajasthan. I have nothing more to add there.
As MPR aptly said.. this is one of those extra-pathodu-padhinonnu-type of albums of IR, which IR himself may not want to be identified with.

Ram: I am not one to laugh at others' incomprehension. It doesnt give me any pleasure..but there it is ..it is my duty to refer you to the dictionary to look up the meaning of the word obsession. I would gladly have done it for you and produced it here..but I have other things, unfortunately, to do and I am really sorry I cant help you.
BTW, my enquiry about your foot constitutes what is called concern and if you really want to use a less complimentary term, curiosity would do fine.
Srinath: Well, I wasnt exactly stealing your punching bag...just bringing it to your atention. Sad that you are in a non-violent mood:-)). I guess your impending visit to Gandhi's land has something to do with it:-))

MPR/Chandy: I too got hold of Rajasthaan yesterday. My sentiments were reflected exactly by your posts. The Shankar Mahadevan song(Sorkatthile Nikka) was quite ARR sounding, I didn't expect this from IR. He has done a similar song in Chandraleka, Allah un aanai padi.
I also bought Kummi Paatu. Again, I'm very disappointed. After reading this forum for 2 years now, I buy every IR album as it's released, but they fail to impress me. In the recent 3, only one song in Chinnadurai was extremely good. Everything else leaves the ears a lot to be desired. We all critizise Padayappa, but at least the songs are listeneable.
Sorry to say this, but I'm hoping for a miracle in Geetha-Krishna's TIME, as IR is said to have produced many great tunes and the producer had to pick out 6 or something. I have to say that I'm frustrated at the stuff IR is producing, as he's doing plenty of albums, but very few are up to mark.
