IR's new albums!

  It was interesting to read all the discussions about lack of appeal in latest IR albums and causes thereof.
  It was also interesting to see that expectations are much higher when it comes to IR and hence even an above average album like KK does get lukewarm reviews.
  I fully agree with Vijay and Karthik that synthetic interludes definitely do not have the *life* that natural instruments have. So, comparing with 80's scores of IR, the new albums seem somewhat life-less.
  But then, isn't everyone using synthetic instruments? Speking purely on relative terms, *inspite of synthetic sounds* IR's albums sound much better to me than the other MDs.
  There is another factor here. If IR *were* indeed to go go back to his *classical orchestral* scores, I am really sceptical about how well the album is going to be recived. "Ennai Thaalatta" is a big hit, even with ALL synth instruments. Doesn't this say something about how public taste is increasingly moving towards such modes??
  KK is all set to be a hit, even with a non-traditional mode of composition.
  Theoretically, Raja's songs still have that creative spark. Consider the glorious violin piece in the both interludes of Kadhal Meedhu song of KK. Is it not vintage IR music. Or consider the folkish flute piece that appears in "Manasu Thotta" song. IMO, Raja's score are still brilliant. It is a question of interpretation.
  He is scoring for a digital age- where virtual sy sounds dominate. I am proud that he was able to adapt himself with ease and flexibility, still retaining his vintage appeal.

  Backed by his son's good support at the key board Ilayaraja comes out trumps in ``Manasa Thotta Kaathal'' and ``Diana'' (both by Hariharan), and ``Kannukullae Kannamma'' (Ilayaraja and Sujatha).

  How are you all of you in this DF?I also have see KK movies.What a good movie with super songs and world class BGM.There is nobody can make music like this.IR has once again prove to this world that he is the only one Genius forever.IR new album just like Ponnuvetukaran,MVU,DG,Thalaimurai and other are come out with a new kind of music.IR still No.1 in tamil film music.There is no doubth.IR keep it up!

  Hello guys,
  
  I found a damaging statement from "Tamilcinema.com" about IR, stating that no jeevan in songs of Kathal Kavithai. How can they write without any responsibility. i immediately registered my protest by sending feed back mail, COme on all Hardcore IR fans, send a single mail and register your protest. Please do it. They have been praising just like that Deva and SAR and all for their music. It's just patiality and nothing else. They have to go to doctor to check their (E)AR

  This is not first time Tamilcinmea.com we are seeing this , even for DesiyaGeetham they wrote like only title says music is Illaiyaraja kind of statement, But when I watched the movie the songs and more than that the BGM is just out of the world. karpoora Vasanai theriyadhavanga ezhudhardha Nama kandukka Koodathu.

  I had the same opinions about 'kAthal kavithai'
  songs like you after I heard them on the net,
  but original CD brings me a complete different
  picture altogether. Please give it a shot
  alteast on cassette, they're really good.
  Especially 'konji pEsa kOvam' by IR & Sujatha,
  one of the best tunes by IR in recent times
  and his voice suits very well with song. This
  is the best song of the album and should hit
  the top-10 charts. Overall this album is a
  better one if not the best from IR after KM.
  One final word, audio quality on the net really

  Yesterday only i got the cassettes of DG,MVU. Excellent songs. Good lyrics by vasan for DG. Hats of Vasan & IR.

  Srinivas @ stanford.edu, I agree with you IR still has the creative spark in him but the new albums have too much of synth instruments which I hate..I really hate it man. I was listening to 'Karagaattakkaaran' yesterday. It was really wonderfull. None of this synthesizer crap !!
  
  I think IR should not go synth because ARR does. He should go full circle (back to basics) with real instruments and do very good acoustic recordings with tube instruments etc. (Check out CDs from WaterLily Acoustics label. Especially Kalyani - by L Subramaniam. It sounds so live/real - the violin, ghatam and mridhangam).
  
  Its a pity that we are mired in so much ignorance that we think ARR is the guru of recording. Basically 'good recording' for the un-initiated TFM crowd is lifeless digital sound of the synthesizers. It is pitiful.

  enjoyed a lot
  latest IR movie : 'Bharani' *ing
  nepoleon, Directed by
  'CHINNATTHAAYI' director.
  listened to songs form IR's
  latest telugu album 'Anthapuram' &
  beleive me this one is going to be
  another 'Yathramozhi'.., excellent
  songs - one by IR, Chitra( best in this
  album) ; one by SJ, one by mano,
  swarna & a solo by chitra - all songs
  are nice & pleasing. the movie seems to
  be a serious movie with Sowndarya &
  prakash raj., and this is gonna be
  dubbed in tamil in the same name with a
  few additional scenes with Parthiban &
  simran. Try to get this spl. treat from
  IR.
  KK is defenetely a great work by
  IR. the BGM is excellent & u will not
  beleive 'eh kopam enna konjip peesu'
  by IR, Sujatha is the title song &
  agathiyan mele enakku romba koopam &
  another thing is 'alai meethu' song is
  not used well. BUT.,, all other songs are
  picturised in a nice style & my one line
  comment on this film is -- " if kathal
  kottai is a 'rough copy'., 'kaathal
  kavithai' is its fair copy & if agathiyan
  gets National award for the rough
  copy., we can expect another one this
  year for the same guy"., other good
  features in the movie are - excellent
  screenplay & yatharthamaana
  vasangkaL by agathiyan., hats off sir !

  Cheran's next film is 'en iniya

  hero is changed, Arun kumar is there
  instead of surya & the shooting is going
  on.

  as per a Junior vikatan issue 4
  or 5 weeks before., the director 'Guru
  dhanabal' says that the film is not
  dropped. However another guru
  dhanabal - IR movie 'Vanthaanga
  jeyichchaanga' is dropped
  3. Punniyavathi
  this film is almost ready & due
  to some financial problems is waiting
  for release
  4. Poonjolai
  same as 'Punniyavathy'. Gangai
  amaran is trying hard to bring this film
  to screens. this one is 100% ready for
  release
  5. Kadhal Rojave
  2 or 3 days before i saw one
  interview of KR- 'kumbagoonam
  gopaalu-vin veTri enakku
  uukkamaLikkiRathu. ena atuththa
  padam 'kathal rojave' is ready for
  release'., beleive me guys this film is
  waiting for more than one year for
  release.my favourite from this movie
  are 'iLavenil ithu vaikaasi maatham'.,
  'thottu thottu'., 'Ninaiththavaram
  kettu.,','chinna veNNilaa' & 'manam
  poona pookkil pooneen' - oh, god., this
  album is really a great number.,

  DROPPED.True.
  7. Kangeyam Kaalai
  Dropped.
  8. Kaakkai Siraginile
  On jan1st1999., i saw an AD. of
  this movie which had 'PAADALGAL
  VIRAIVIL VELIYIDU'. this is
  supposed to be an 'after pongal'
  release., heard that songs are very nice
  in this film with excellent lyrics by R V
  Udaykumar.
  9. Chinna Ramsami Periya Ramasami
  This RVU is doing the final
  touches for this film & this may come
  for pongal. i think u all would have
  listened to 2 great numbers from this
  film - 'unnai naan sernthirukka' by
  SPB,KSC & 'vaazaiyadi vaazaiyaa' by
  KJY,AM.

  hi Karthik Narasimhan, u have a point.,
  bad lyrics spoiled many of IR's
  excellent songs in that period &
  personally i was very angry with Vali.,
  IR gave him a life but he didn't used it.
  he is very good (to name a song -
  'thendRal vanthu thinDum poothu' from
  'Avatharam' & 'KaNmaNi anbodu' from
  Guna) in some songs & in some songs he
  is the person who did all the damage., (
  the list is very big IMO.,) But now IR
  viziththukkoNdu vittaar. , last year
  vali got only 3 songs from IR ( 2 for
  senthuram & 'yethoo yethoo' from MVU
  ). i like Vali but not the way he did
  damage to IR. - however i love 'yethoo
  yethoo' & its lyrics., a welcome change
  in vali.

  will be great if he uses the so called
  basic instruments & we'll get a decent
  album., but see what happened to
  'Kaathal rojavee'., it has all the
  features we expect from IR & is not a
  big hit as Jeans or any of Deva's
  recent GAANA numbers --- tamil fans

  saw suntv review for kk..
  
  Agathian gave max credits to IR for his movie Kadal Kavidai (man of the movie??) and named
  the cinematographer (forgot the name) as no.2.
  
  I dont know if he realy meant it or its nowadays a
  custom that for movies with junior actors
